'''Wendel''' is a location and settlement in ''[[Sword of Mana]]''. It's located in the southeast part of the world, a coastal town that is accessible bypassing the [[Wendel Coast]]. It's also connected to the [[Mushboom Forest]] to the west only after events in the city.
== Story ==

After rescuing [[Undine]] from [[Marsh Cave (Sword of Mana)|Marsh Cave]] and breaking the [[Stone Seals|stone seal]] in [[Road to Wendel]]. The [[Sumo|Hero]] and the [[Fuji|Heroine]] finally arrives in the town, he wants to find [[Cibba|Cibba The Sage]] and learn about the [[Sword of Mana (weapon)|Mana Sword]], while she wants to find [[Bogard]]. 

Near the town fountain, in a short cutscene they will find a Minstrel named [[Lester]] singing the song about [[Lord Granz|Granz]] as a peacemaker, which the Hero will recognize as Lord Granz's song, after the song he will tell a [[Davias|grey-haired man]] that he is going to [[Granz Castle|Granz's castle]], the man however will warn him about singing songs contrary to the [[Dark Lord (Sword of Mana)|Dark Lord's]] policies. 

At the Inn, they will find the gray-haired man identify as Devius, who will explain to the heroes that Lester would be killed because his music could influence on the people's hearts to revolt. 

In the Heroine's story only, if they goes to the blacksmith's workshop, [[Watts (Sword of Mana)|Watts]] will come to talk to the Heroine and ask if she is on an adventure, after a quick conversation, he leaves but enters again, and gives her the [[Weapons in Sword of Mana|sickle]] as a gift.

Inside the cathedral, both Hero and Heroine will find Bogard talking to a strange man, after some dialogue is revealed to be Cibba, who like Bogard is also a [[Gemma Knight]]. After the Hero says that he wants the Mana Sword to destroy the Dark Lord, both will laugh, and the Hero will leave angry the cathedral. 

In the Heroine's story, when the Hero leaves, Cibba says that he will never be able to wield the sword, Bogard in turn will ask the Heroine if she has the [[Mana Pendant|pendant]], which she confirms. Cibba will cast a spell on the Heroine and ask her to guard the pendant well safe, and says that he will take care of her now so that Bogard can travel. She will protest wanting to go with him, but he will reply telling her is to dangerous, so she will say that he acts like [[Count Lee]] and will tell them what happened. 

Cibba will say that both her and the Hero must know the world, face their destiny with an open heart, and Bogard will tell her to make her choices, which she will thanks him. Suddenly, the ground quakes, as a military squadron attacks and the Hero falls inside the cathedral. 

In the Hero's story, outside the cathedral, an Airship will appear flying over the city, people will run out, and soon, the Dark Lord, [[Julius (Sword of Mana)|Julius]] and Granz Soldiers will appear at the entrance of the cathedral. The Hero will try to attack the Dark Lord, but will soon be defeated, after which Julius will cast a Magic Spell forcing the Hero inside the cathedral. 

At the junction of the two stories, the Hero falls inside the cathedral shattering the [[Items in Sword of Mana|Moon Mirror]]. 

Soon, as the Dark Lord and Julius enters the cathedral, a shadow will project from Julius in which Cibba identifies as [[Vandole]], after a dialogue, the Heroine will peacefully go with the Dark Lord so that the city is not massacred, the Hero will try to intervene but will fail, then, the heroes will be both knocked out, and the scene will cut. 

In the Heroine's story, she will remember a childhood conversation with her mother [[Elise]], then she wakes up on the [[Airship (Sword of Mana)|Airship]]. 

As for the Hero, he wakes up in Devius' room at the Inn with Bogard and Lester. The bard will leave, and Gemma Knight will explain that to rescue the Heroine on the Airship they must to talk to Cibba in the cathedral. 

Leaving the Inn, Lester will leave with Devius to his [[Devius Manor (Sword of Mana)| manor]] in [[Jadd (Sword of Mana)|Jadd]], Devius will ask the Hero to release the birds in the room, after that they will depart. 

At the Cathedral, Cibba will explain that the incident also involves Vandole after having seen a reflection of him when the Moon Mirror shattered. He will also tell that the airship will duck in [[Westlake]] to refuel, and that the Heroine's [[Wisp]] is causing a havoc inside of it.

So, to rescue the Heroine, the Hero must going through [[Gaia Cave (Sword of Mana)|Gaia Cave]]. Then, Cibba will give him a light spirit Wisp. 

At the entrance to the cathedral, the trio separates. Bogard will approach the airship through Granz's castle, Cibba will research more about Julius and the Hero will head to Gaia's cave. 

A cutscene takes place, showing several characters, and [[Isabella (Sword of Mana)|Isabella]] apparently joining the Dark Lord, soon after, the Hero will reappears in front of the cathedral going to the Heroine's rescue.{{spoiler|end}}
