In Topple, she encounters Niccolo who sells her his handy notebook before leaving. Then a young boy asks her to retrieve his book that he lost in the meadow south of the the forest near the village. She agrees to be on the lookout for it and heads to her next destination. While searching for the book in tall grass, the maiden is attacked by the strange man who attacked her village when she was young. The mysterious character reveals that every single member of the mana believers were killed by the Realm soldiers during the raid and that she is next. As he is about to hurt her, an echoing voice of an imperial soldier beckons Julius to meet with the Dark Lord. Julius summons a Chobin Hood in its place, leaving the poor maiden to fend off the threat alone. A military man wandering nearby hears her cries, helping her defeat the monster. Fuji is doubtful of him at first, since he notices his bloody sword, hinting at his potential Realm alignment. Turns out his name is the same as the young boy who escaped with her from the Granz soldiers back when she was a child too. The two of the team up while returning to Topple.

There, the party splits up, Fuji still being unsure about his true identity. She gives the book back to the youngster, his grandpa thanking her by giving out the Magic Rope. While the maiden decides to chat with the villagers, one mentions talking with the military man about her uncle Bogard, whom the guy seemed really interested. This tips off Fuji by thinking the guy really was with the Realm and hurries back to Cascade Cottage. As she hears noise from inside, Fuji erupts inside the cottage, accusing the military man of being on of the Realm's Heretic Hunters. Brandishing her staff towards the man, the maiden asks what Sumo has done to Bogard, to the boy's utter confusion. The hero replies that he only wants revenge on Dark Lord too, making the situation less tense as both realize they aren't working for him. Sumo gives the letter to Fuji, making a light mana sprit appear. Fuji is surprised to hear about the boy never seeing a spirit before, and decide to teach him how to summon one. Seeing the letter is from Bogard, the maiden decides to join Sumo on their way to Wendel.
