'''Xan Bie''' is a recurring character and boss in the ''[[Mana (series)|Mana]]'' series. It is part of the eight Benevodons, a group of fearsome & powerful creatures who once laid waste to the world. Xan Bie rules over the fire element.

==Background==
Since time immemorial, Xan Bie roamed the land of [[Fa'Diel]] along with its seven other siblings, causing chaos and destruction on their path. When the [[Mana Goddess]] came upon [[Fa'Diel]], she wielded whe [[Mana Sword]] to the horrible beasts and sealed them into their respective [[Mana Stone|Mana stones]]. Then, she transformed into the [[Mana Tree]] deep inside the [[Sanctuary of Mana (Trials of Mana)|Sanctuary]] where the blade laid on her knotted feet. Meanwhile, the benevodons waited in slumber for aeons until Mana power began to wane as the [[Mana Tree]] started to wither.

The shift in Mana was further accelerated by evil factions around the world longing to wield the Mana Sword's power. An emissary of the Goddess was sent from the Sanctuary to the human world in hope of finding someone suitable to defeat the enemy and restore the world back in shape.

A Chosen one was selected by [[Faerie (character)|Faerie]] to gather the [[Mana Spirits|elementals]] and wielding the fabled blade against the evil forces who sought to release Mana power contained within each stone to open the portal to the [[Sanctuary of Mana (Trials of Mana)|Sanctuary of Mana]]. Aided by their comrades, their ultimately failed to prevent their enemy to use the sword to break the seals on the Mana Stones, ushering a new era of despair. Faerie pleaded the party to defeat each benevodon before they combine into an indestructible chimera and they started venturing all over Fa'Diel to locate them.

Xan Bie roamed the depths of the [[Fiery Gorge]], where it confronted the party. Despite the unbearable heat and the Benevodon's scorching powers, the party successfully defeated the beast.

[[Xan Bie's Ring]] can be found in a treasure chest not too far from the Benevodon's lair. It grants the wearer a reduction of fire-elemental damage from foes by half.

The recent Mana Surge turned Xan Bie into a [[Malevodon]] by combining it with [[Dangaard]] to create [[Xangar]]. The monstrosity was fought atop the [[Mana Tower]] where it confronted the protagonist as they were about to rescue [[Tess]]. Previously invulnerable, its barrier shattered once the protagonist got hold of the holy sword's mighty powers, and managed to defeat it and turning the two benevodons into their original states.

Some time after the incident, [[Salamander]] told the protagonist to ask Xan Bie about various topics concerning the world. The hero headed back to the [[Fiery Sands]] to meet with the spirit of fire and had their questions answered.

At the end of the game, the eight benevodons joined forces to seal [[Illusia Isle]] from being found in the mortal realm. It is hinted that the island is was becamed of the Sanctuary of Mana in ''Trials of Mana''.

An optional quest only accessible by completing the game makes the protagonist warp deep into the [[Cosmic Rift]] to meet with the eight benevodons for the last time. They gift them the ultimate [[Gem]] called [[Mystic Blessing]].

Xan Bie makes an appearance in the middle of the [[Burning Sands]] during [[Chapter 6 (Heroes of Mana)|Chapter 6: Falcon of the Burning Sands]] where it speaks telepatically to Roget through its freshly emerged Mana stone. The Benevodon along with its corresponding elemental Salamander join Roget's party after sensing the world being in danger.

Players can later summon Land Umber by building an [[Altar of Fire]] once for each mission. The benevodon deals 350 damage with the added [[Burning (status)|burning]] effect to enemies in range.

In a bonus mission, Xan Bie slips out of its stone and attempts to steal the Sword of Mana from Roget to free itself and its brethren. However, most of its power is still sealed and it is forced back into the stone. It warns the humans that the Benevodons' time is coming.
