==Background==
The Dwarf Elder is the chief of the [[Dwarf Village (Secret of Mana)|Dwarf Village]]. Shortly before the events of the game, he rescued an amesiac [[Popoi]] stranded inside [[Gaia's Navel]] who was brought in by a recent flood. Possibly become of the sprite's unusual appearance, he came up with the idea of setting up a show to attract gullible tourists in order to make them both rich.

[[Randi]] meets with the Dwarf Elder in [[Dwarf Village (Secret of Mana)|Dwarf Village]] by attending his shoddy sideshow near his home. During the performance, he indroduces a [[Popoi|sprite]] child under the spotlight, claiming they have a 50,000 GP debt to pay off. The poor sprite asks for Randi's good grace by donating 100 GP. After the seedy performance, the hero overhears the scheming duo rejoicing over his foolishness, but panic as they realize Randi was listening to their ploy. The Dwarf Elder apologizes, telling the child is really a stray sprite who washed up during a recent flood. He thought he could raise money to send them home. The swindlers refund Randi's money before him leaving the premise. Upon exiting the elder's house, the hero is immediately caught up by a quake, sending him in a cave to battle [[Tropicallo (Secret of Mana)|Tropicallo]].

After defeating the monster, the Elder thanks the hero for taking care of the threat, then explains that the sprite developed amnesia from drifting inside [[Gaia's Navel]]. He also mention that Tropicallo unearthed the path to the [[Underground Palace]] which could help the sprite's memory by interacting with its [[Mana Seed]]. In the end, Popoi decides to accompany Randi in their quest to head home safely. The Dwarf Elder mentions that [[Elinee]] the witch sealed the palace with a lava field, therefore Randi and Popoi must go to the [[Witch's Castle]] to ask her to remove the seal. He gives the team the [[Chobin's Bow]] as a parting gift before leading them to the village's entrance.

A while later, Randi and crew decide to chase after the [[Scorpion Army|thieves]] who stole the Mana Seed from the [[Water Palace]], their tracks leading to Gaia's Navel. There, they find [[Gemma (Secret of Mana)|Gemma]] and the Dwarf Elder looking at a giant hole in the middle of the central plaza. Gemma explains that the thieves are after the Mana Seed of the Underground Palace, as they intend to dig underneath the temple to reach it. Gemma heads to the palace while he entrust the trio to stop them from reaching the next seed. After defeating the evildoers, the Elder thanks the party again, commenting on them looking more mature. He gives them the [[Midge Mallet]], saying he used it during the show to change the sprite's size.

==General information==
===Physical appearance===
Like other dwarves, the Elder has a short, stout stature with a black, void-like face and yellow glowing eyes. He wears a heavy metal helmet adorned with horns and an orange plume on his head and sports a white beard hiding most of his torso. His body is covered with an orange sleeveless tunic with green overalls underneath. He also wears pointy metal clogs.
