| Not much is known about the events of Grandpa's life prior to meeting the party. He is the only survivor of an attack on Sprite Village by [[Spring Beak]] and Imperial forces, the latter attempting to take the [[Mana Seed]] of Wind. Grandpa was forced to draw back into the [[Wind Palace]] to protect both the Seed and the sprites' patron spirit [[Jinn|Sylphid]], but had been blinded in the assault. Though he now lacks sight, he retains his wisdom; so, when the party meets him, Grandpa instructs Sylphid to go with Popoi and the others as his new masters. Grandpa also tells the party to head for [[Matango]] to find more information about the next steps in their quest, binding their wounds before they depart.
