Malocchio is a secondary antagonist and boss in Trials of Mana.
Background
Very little is known about Malocchio, besides he is from Mavolia along with Belladonna, according to his speech given in the Night Cavern, the Goddess of Mana trapped the residents of Mavolia in that underworld until recently. Together with the Prince of Mavolia they intend to reclaim Fa'Diel and turn it into Mavolia itself.

In order for His Dark Majesty's body to be revived, Malocchio and Belladonna devised a plan to release the energy of the Mana Stones, releasing the Benevodons and open a path to the Sanctuary of Mana to retrieve the Mana Sword. With the holy blade in hand, the Prince of Mavolia could be resurrected at full strength and give free rein to his world domination scheme. Belladonna was tasked to mind-hack the [[Flamekhan|leader of the Nevarl nation and orchestrate an invasion of the neighboring wind kingdom of Laurent. Malocchio, on the other hand, would keep in touch with His Dark Majesty's condition and act as the messenger.
During Hawkeye's opening gambit, the young thief and his friend Eagle would have a glipse of the vampire while eavesdropping on Belladonna's conversation. He quickly exits the room as the wicked sorceress deals with the intruders, but turning them against each other. A while later, the Nevarlan troops successfully sieged the Laurent citadel and kidnapped the young prince of Laurent as a suitable vessel for their master's soul whose old body was about to reach his breaking point. Curiously enough, the boy mysteriously slipped off their grasp and had to be bought from a seedy merchant in Beiser's Night Market by the vampire.
The protagonists would first run into Malocchio at the very end of the Seaside Cavern in Beuca Island. The vampire was about to leave them to die in the volcanic eruption, but the ruler of the seas, Vuscav saved them in the nick of time.
As the main characters finally gathered all Mana spirits and combined their powers to Oblivisle, the sudden release of all eight Mana Stones' energy opens a portal to the Sanctuary. Belladonna and Malocchio gathers a batallion on a carrier and head for the holyland. As the three evil factions of the world collide, Belladonna, under the rule of His Dark Majesty, finds herself warring for the control of the Sword of Mana. What follows next depends on who is the main character of the story:
* If Duran or Angela is the main character of the story, then the Dragon Lord's faction destroys the remains of His Dark Majesty, making his revival impossible. Heartbroken, Belladonna kills Malocchio and then is hinted to commit suicide.
* If Kevin or Charlotte is the main character of the story, then the Masked Mage's faction destroys the remains of His Dark Majesty, making his revival impossible. Heartbroken, Belladonna kills Malocchio and then is hinted to commit suicide.
* If Hawkeye or Riesz is the main character of the story, the Prince of Mavolia's faction kills the Dragon Lord and the Masked Mage, disbanding their respective factions.

In the event that Hawkeye or Riesz is the chosen, they obtain the fabled holy sword at the foot of the Tree of Mana, but Belladonna kidnaps Faerie and and demands the Sword in exchange for her life, forcing them to comply. They meet in the Nevarl Fortress, where the exchange is dealt with. The vampire tries to wield the Sword at first, but its holy powers are no match for him to withstand. Belladonna corrupts the sword with her dark magic, turning the blade into reflecting the heart of its new owner. They both depart to use the Sword to free the Benevodons inside each Mana Stone, purging the world of humans and reviving the Prince of Mavolia in the process.
The heroes kill the Benevodons one by one and reach the Night Cavern. There, they face Malocchio one last time before they fell him, not before the vampire boasts about His Dark Masjesty's plan coming to fruition.

Trivia
* Malocchio's appearance and vampiric nature make him similar to Count Lee.
* He is the only tertiary antagonist (meaning below the main vilain and the second-in-command) to wield the Sword of Mana.
* He is also the only tertiary antagonist not to be related to a main character, as the Tainted Soul is to Charlotte, and the Darkshine Knight is to Duran.
