| ==Overview==
| |
| Legend of Mana starts out with an empty World Map and introduces the player to its Land creation mechanic by first placing a Mailbox Artifact on a specific spot, turning it into the hero's Home, effectively creating their first Land. With 26 Artifacts to place on a 6x6 World Map grid, the game offers a vast amount of possible combinations in regards to land disposition.

|
| |
| ==Limitations==
| |
| By placing artifacts on the World Map, players can influence several metrics depending on which placement they choose from and for which land. Because of this, creating a Land on a certain spot can make certain parameters unaccessible and/or unlock others. Here is what can Land creation affect in the game, making some missable:
| |
|
| |
| * Certain optional quests, such as The Wimpy Thugling, Seeing Double, and Pee-Wee Birdie.
| |
| * Certain Demi-human pets, such as Chobin Hood or the Mad Mallard.
| |
| * Certain shop levels.
| |
| * The Mana levels for the Orchard for fastest growing produce.
| |
| * Odds of catching certain pet eggs.
| |
|
| |
| ==Land Level==
| |
| Each Land has an assigned level representing its difficulty. For dungeons, this is linked with its enemy levels. For towns, however, it influences what items shops will sell.
| |
|
| |
| Land Level is assigned when artifacts are placed on the World Map and never changes. It is not affected by other Lands placed around it, as Mana Levels is a completely unrelated system. I follows instead this equation:
| |
|
| |
|

| |
| Land Level = horizontal distance from Home + Vertical distance from Home + number of artifacts placed on the map (including this one)
| |
|

| |
|
| |
| For example, let's look at this configuration:
| |
|
| |
|

| |
| 6
| |
| 5
| |
| 4
| |
| 3 2 1 7
| |
|

| |
|
| |
| # Home. It has a Land Level of 1, because it's 0 squares away from Home, and is the 1st artifact placed.
| |
| # Domina. It always has a Land Level of 3, because it's always 1 square away from Home (in this case, it's 1 horizontal spaces + 0 vertical space) and is the 2nd artifact placed.
| |
| # Mekiv Caverns. This land has a level of 5 (0 vertical + 2 horizontal + 3rd artifact placed).
| |
| # Luon Highway. This land has a level of 5 (1 vertical + 0 horizontal + 4th artifact placed).
| |
| # Jungle. This land has a level of 9 (3 vertical + 1 horizontal + 5th artifact placed).
| |
| # Gato Grottoes. This land has a level of 10 (4 vertical + 0 horizontal + 6th artifact placed).
| |
| # Ulkan Mines. This land has a level of 8 (0 vertical + 1 horizontal + 7th artifact placed).
| |
|
| |
| Note that some lands placed later in the game can have a lower enemy level than earlier ones if the former are placed closer to Home. In this example, the Ulkan Mines has a lower level than both the Jungle or Gato Grottoes because it is placed right next to Home.

|
| |
| ==Shop Levels==
| |
| As noted previously, Land placement influences its shop level, which can prove invaluable for the player to buy higher ranked materials and equipment.
| |
|
| |
| There are 6 lands in the game which include shops affected by land level:
