'''Mushbooms''' are a species of basic enemies in the ''[[Mana (series)|Mana]]'' games. They first appear in ''[[Final Fantasy Adventure]]'' and have been depicted in every installment ever since. Mushbooms are living mushrooms who have a pink cap with a few large, red hearts on them.

The fungus monster is one of the franchise's most recognizable regular enemy, generally only bested by the [[Rabite]].

===Physical Description===
Mushbooms are stout mushroom creatures sporting a usually pink cap adorned with red hearts. Their body are beige and their face are usually perpetually struck with a surprised expression, with agape mouths. They possess stubby arms and legs and have a sluggish, clumsy gait. They usually attack by bashing at their target, sometimes by spinning very fast by doing a handstand on their cap. Their final way of hindering their prey is by spewing sleeping spores. They are usually found buried in the ground with only their cap visible, and upon getting close they pop out and attack.

===Attributes===
The fungus is commonly seen in locations housing rich fertile soil and lush greenery, such as valleys, forests, and glades. They can also be occasionally found deep underground or near bodies of water.

Like other plant monsters, the Mushboom is often associated with [[Dryad]] and is therefore sometimes weak to [[Luna]] or [[Aura]]. The mushroom is also rarely strong against [[Gnome]].

Mushbooms have a few variants mostly exclusive to some intstallments, with the [[Mushgloom]] being the exception.

*Introduced in ''Secret of Mana'', [[Mushgloom|Mushglooms]] are the most common variant, appearing in ''Trials of Mana'', ''Sword of Mana'', ''Children of Mana'', ''Rise of Mana'', and ''Echoes of Mana''. They usually sport blue caps & bodies and are much more proficient with Dryad magic than their weaker brethren.

*The [[Mushboom (Sword of Mana)|Dark Mushboom]] can be fought in ''Sword of Mana'' after defeating 1,000 regular Mushbooms, just like any other enemies other than bosses. They replace their weaker variant and can deal devastating attacks.

*The [[Grim Matango]] is a corrupted Mushboom fought in ''Dawn of Mana'' during [[Chapter 5 (Dawn of Mana)|Chapter 5]] onwards.

*The [[Fantangos]] and [[Rad Mush]] are two stronger [[Magic Pet]] variants exclusive to ''Rise of Mana''.

There is a town named [[Matango]] that is solely inhabited by friendly Mushbooms, all of whom have differently colored mushroom caps than the enemies themselves. Their area is ruled over by [[King Truffle]].

Mushbooms return once again in ''Trials of Mana'' and are found during the first two chapters of the game, such as in [[Rabite Forest]], [[Cascade Cavern]], [[Molebear Moors]], and more. They can be frequently seen with their body buried underground, only to pop up upon sensing the protagonists' presence. They are surprisingly quick on their feet and like to bash into their target.

Wild Mushbooms are plant-type enemies encountered in the [[Mekiv Caverns]] and the [[White Forest]]. They can attack by hitting the player character with various physical moves such as spin attack, charge or drop kick. Their spores can either inflict [[Poison (status)|poison]] or [[Sleep (status)|sleep]]. They often drop power items upon defeat. They can be distinguished from their domesticated counterpart by their bluish cap.

Pet Mushbooms can be found as monster eggs in [[Lake Kilma]] and the [[Jungle (location)|Jungle]]. Their Synchro ability adds the sleep status effect to targets upon being hit with a physical attack.

The fugus typically conceal their presence by hiding their bodie in the ground, then hurl their cap at the hero. They can easily be defeated by casting [[Shade]] or [[Luna]] magic or by hitting them with a slash-type weapon.
