The seeds or spores of certain plants and fungi, as well as wood-elemental spells, produce an intoxicating effect that causes the victim to drift off to dreamland. This can appear to the player as the victim seeing birds overhead, blowing bubbles, or simply catching zzz's until a good whack or a [[Medical Herb]] brings them around. Summoning healing magic may also rouse the afflicted from slumber.

Some foes, especially [[rabite]]s and [[goblin]]s, are light sleepers by nature, and so can be observed nodding off until woken by the footfalls of nearby adventurers. In games with a calendar system, the time of day may also influence which creatures are asleep.
