Nobuo Uematsu (born March 21, 1959) is a prolific composer of video game music, whose body of work includes dozens of scores for Squaresoft and Square Enix. He is best known for the music of Square Enix's flagship Final Fantasy franchise, and has assisted and tutored many of the company's present composers and musicians before retiring from full-time work circa 2004 and moving to freelance work.

Uematsu has one notable credit in the Mana franchise: a track entitled "Birth of the Chocobo" for Final Fantasy Adventure.
