Class change (Sword of Mana)
Class change is an important game mechanic in Sword of Mana.
Overview[edit]
For every level gained, the player as the opportunity to allocate 1 point in a class type of their choice. The six types are Warrior, Monk, Magician, Sage, Thief, and Random. Once the player has put 5 points into a type (or multiple for the Random type), they a locked into a class tree and changes class. Players will need to allocate more points into each class types to switch to advanced classes. The player cannot change class once the first one is reached. It takes 5 level ups to reach a yellow class, 15 for a blue class, and 35 for a red class. Each class names and statistics are based on their Trials of Mana equivalent.
Each class type grants 12 points among different attributes. The amount of points a class type can grant to each attribute is the same for each level up. Depending on the class type selected, each stat will be affected differently. Note that if the player chooses the Random Type, the 12 points will be distributed randomly, with 8 of those points devoted to HP/MP and 4 given to the other statistics.

In addition to granting stat points, accessing any class will bestow weapon and/or magic buffs to the player character. Statistical bonuses do NOT stack up between classes, meaning that switching to a more advanced class will not grant bonuses on top of the ones gained in previous classes.

Bonus Accessories[edit]
Players can opt to acquire a bonus accessory instead of choosing classes. To do so, points must be allocated only in ONE statistic for 40 levels, meaning up until the player character reaches level 41. If done correctly, a message box will announce that the player has obtained the corresponding item.
