Dudbears are a recurring race of creatures in the Mana series.
Background[edit]
Dudbears are a group of anthropomorphic mammals akin to badgers and small bears. They have their own language called Duddish and usually speak in broken English when they are able to. While some denizens are able to understand them and act as translators, most consider their tongue to be gibberish. They are almost always depicted in groups.
Dubears are shown to be incredibly submissive and credulous at times, and are often relegated to do hard labor under harsh conditions. Nevertheless, this makes them quite resilient and adaptable.
History[edit]
Visions of Mana[edit]
Making their first appearance in the mainline titles, Dudbears are found in many locations throughout Qi'Diel. Val and his convoy of alms meet the first dudbear on the main road of the Charred Passage after collecting a drop of Grizzly Syrup. It also hands the convoy a complete Dudbear Dictionary to read at their leisure. From this point forward, the dudbears operate the Grizzly Exchange, wherein the convoy can trade their drops of syrup for rare and expensive items.
Legend of Mana[edit]

Dudbears slave for Roger's Diggers. Initially leading simple, unperturbed lives as laborers for Roger's mining business, the Dudbears are later forced to join the cult that he constructs around his pet dog Putty.
Sword of Mana[edit]
Dudbears reappear as Watts' assistants, digging various tunnels inside the Abandoned Mine in hopes of finding Mythril ore. They reportedly have a poor sense of orientation much to the dwarf's dismay, and frequently end up lost during their search.
Children of Mana[edit]
Dudbears own the Dud Services at Mana Village. They can provide job requests from all over the world to the protagonist where they can earn various rewards upon completion.
Circle of Mana[edit]
Dudbears make a cameo appearance in the online game, along with several other characters from the Mana series. They appear in 1 set of cards.
