Darkness, also known as Blind, Blinded, Blindess, or Burn, is a recurring status aliment in the Mana series.

Effect[edit]

The victim's vision goes completely dark or is otherwise occluded, making the field harder to see and thus potentially easier for enemies to attack without fear of pushback. When isolated to individual units, their attacks may miss their intended targets.

History[edit]

Final Fantasy Adventure/Adventures of Mana[edit]

Dark status

In Final Fantasy Adventure darkness (rendered DARK on the screen) makes Sumo blind, rendering the whole room he is in pitch back for a short while. During this time, players can barely see monsters and obstacles. This can be restored by the Magic of Heal or Eye Drop potion.

In Adventures of Mana, Blinded makes Sumo's field of vision limited to a small circle around him, the rest of the screen pitch black for around 15 to 20 seconds. The names of the restoratives has stayed the same.

Like other status aliments, darkness can only be inflicted by enemies. Below is a list of all monsters who can potentially blind Sumo.

Trials of Mana HD[edit]

A Darkness effect has been added to Burn. If the currently-controlled character is hit with a fire attack or runs into a hazard while exploring the Fiery Gorge, the smoke gives the character tunnel vision.
