Log'grattzo
The Log'grattzo Dark Archives is a location in Visions of Mana. It is an academic town located on the tiny Brattzo Islet.
Story[edit]
Four years ago, the ceramicist Eoren and the woman he fell in love with, Lyza, made plans in haste to leave Gudju to avert the latter's sacrifice as the Alm of Earth. Eoren believed that if they were able to escape, they would study at Log'grattzo to find a means to end the ritual and remain together until their end of days. This was not to be, as Lyza became petrified in her attempted flight.
As foretold by a damning prophecy, the depletion of Gnome's mana threw the seal over Daelophos off-balance enough that Eoren, who survived Gudju and was still seeking a means to restore Lyza, sacrificed Hinna to gain control of the Mana Sword and grant his wish; however, Daelophos was released instead, still seething with revenge against the Mana Goddess for the untimely death of his betrothed, Cerulia, along with the eight Benevodons.
Val's company arrives in Log'grattzo having already slain the great worm Benevodon Garethe, of Earth. They seek an audience with Aesh, the rambling head curator of the Dark Archives who was Palamena's tutor some years before, as they move to halt the release of Zable Fahr. As has been the case throughout their pilgrimage, however, the Alm of Darkness has not been chosen. Unfortunately, the building that houses the Archives has been in disrepair for some time, propped up by an odd-looking staff. The party finds Master Aesh locked up in conversation with other scholars and scribes both curious of the alms' arrival and hoping to find a fix for the Archives. Val heads off in search of a new support, finding a giant's fork in the basement of the Archives as collected by the alchemist Von Boyage. Val then swaps the support to find that the previous device was in fact an elemental vessel, the Shade Sight.
Master Aesh convenes with the party and explains that they may need a forbidden device and an ancient toxin to disable Daelophos, should he arrive as expected. The recipe is sealed within the Passagean Tomespire at the edge of town, with Aesh also offering to join them to get the book. It lies in a room guarded by the demon door Zehnoa, which the convoy fights and defeats. When they return, the party finds they need the croak of a frog, a striped egg, and the fur of a chatty cat; and so, they split up to gather the three ingredients: Careena finds a hen that lays a striped egg on her head; Palamena and Morley scramble to catch a frog's croak; and Julei works up the Merchant Sisters to collect their fur. Von Boyage then creates a Corepedo for the party.
No sooner than the device is created, Daelophos catches the party by surprise. Aesh is forced to break the Corepedo open as the rest of the party struggles to hold him off. Its toxin works, slowing Daelophos, though he retreats to awaken the Benevodon of Darkness soon after. The convoy, now including Aesh, returns to the Tomespire to battle the three-headed menace. Their defeat releases Shade, who with Faerie appoints Aesh as the Alm of Darkness.
