Zable Fahr is a recurring character and boss in the Mana series. This trio of demonic, disembodied heads is part of the eight Benevodons, a group of fearsome and powerful creatures who once laid waste to the world. Zable Fahr rules over the element of darkness.

Background[edit]

Since time immemorial, Zable Fahr roamed the land of Fa'Diel along with its seven other siblings, causing chaos and destruction on their path. When the Mana Goddess came upon Fa'Diel, she wielded the Mana Sword to the horrible beasts and sealed them into their respective Mana stones. Then, she transformed into the Mana Tree deep inside the Sanctuary where the blade laid on her knotted feet. Meanwhile, the benevodons waited in slumber for aeons until Mana power began to wane as the Mana Tree started to wither.

However, according to Shade's story in Trials of Mana, humankind tried to harness the power of the Mana stones initially to bring peace to the world. This lofty goal rapidly turned into greed and this fight for domination unlocked the seal unto the Darkstone and laid waste to Fa'Diel, almost to a point of no return. The Benevodon of Darkness was said to roam freely somewhere and its vessel, the Darkstone was apparently lost. However, the Prince of Mavolia tried to summon the Mana stone into the world again at some point in time, but the Goddess of Mana both sealed them away in the underworld.

History[edit]

Trials of Mana[edit]

The main head of Zable Fahr appearing

Zable Fahr is always the eighth and last Benevodon fought in Chapter V of the main story.

A scholar in Pedda notes that the last of the Mana Stones, the Darkstone, was sealed on another plane after the creation of the world and has not been seen since, leaving only seven of the stones to exist in the mortal plane. Shade previously explained aboard the Ghost Ship that other conflicts have caused the Darkstone's energy to spill into the world, furthering strife as it exists.

As the heroes slay the other seven elemental beasts, the energy generated becomes enough to pull the Darkstone into reality, where it also has fractured and therefore released the demon trio. Where it is ultimately fought depends on the Chosen themselves.

The Zable Fahr's Ring can be found near the benevodon's lair in the remake. It reduces dark-elemental damage inflincted by enemies by half.

Visions of Mana[edit]

Zable Fahe is the second Benevodon released by Daelophos and fought by the convoy of alms atop the Passagean Tomespire. Each of the three heads is sentient and can speak independently of the others, with the lateral heads having male personae and the central head as a female.

Children of Mana[edit]

Illusia Isle fading along with the Benevodons

The recent Mana Surge turned Zable Fahr into a Malevodon by combining it with Dolan to create Thaydol. The chimera was fought in the Fiery Sands under the watchful eye of the Mana Lord, but was eventually defeated, turning the two benevodons into their original states.

Some time after the incident, Shade told the protagonist to ask Zable Fahr about various topics concerning the world. The hero headed back to the Cosmic Rift to meet with the spirit of darkness and had their questions answered.

At the end of the game, the eight benevodons joined forces to seal Illusia Isle from being found in the mortal realm. It is hinted that the island became of the Sanctuary of Mana in Trials of Mana.

An optional quest only accessible by completing the game makes the protagonist warp deep into the Cosmic Rift to meet with the eight benevodons for the last time. They gift them the ultimate Gem called Mystic Blessing.

Heroes of Mana[edit]

“A long-lost Mana Stone According to Shade, the shadow spirit, a global war in ancient times caused its seal to be broken, unleashing Zable Fahr, the benevodon of shadow. The world was on the verge of total annihilation when the benevodon suddenly vanished for reasons unknown. It seems Zable Fahr has since become a Mana Stone in another realm, and though ]they] still cast [their] shadow on this world, finding [them] seems virtually impossible.”
Notebook

Zable Fahr is the only Benevodon not appearing as a summon in Heroes of Mana as their Mana stone is said to be lost in another world.

Rise of Mana[edit]

Mispolm & Zable Fahr are featured as bonus bosses in the mobile phone game Rise of Mana, in which two protagonists from warring species of the Spirit Realm, the divine Rasta and the demonic Daruka, must share a body and learn to cooperate in the physical planes. The demons are all fought in the scion realm.

Echoes of Mana[edit]

Zable Fahr made a cameo appearance as part of the prologue and in-game tutorial, where they were used to showcase the Mega Spirit Magic feature.
