LFFA/LvAoM, short for Level, determine the overall strength of Sumo in a grading system, from 1 to 99. Players need to collect EXP or experience points to gain a level. Leveling up prompts the Growth typeFFA/Training regimenAoM menu.
Status[edit]
Status depics Sumo's current condition. Four status crises or status effects influence the hero's condition.
Status | Description | Remedy |
---|---|---|
(Good) | Normal condition. | N/A |
(PoisFFA/PoisonedAoM) | Gradually depletes Sumo's HP. | Antidote, Heal, Unicorn Horn, fades over time. |
(StonFFA/PetrifiedAoM) | Sumo is stuck in place, but can still attack. | Gold Needle, Heal, Unicorn Horn, fades over time. |
(MoogFFA/MoogledAoM) | Sumo is turned into a Moogle, depleting his defense power to 0 and disabling weapon or item use. | Mole Whiskers, Heal, Unicorn Horn, fades over time. |
(DarkFFA/BlindAoM) | The screen turns blackFFA/vision is limited to a small circle around SumoAoM, rendering navigation very difficult. | Eye Drops, Heal, Unicorn Horn, fades over time. |
E/EXP[edit]

EFFA/EXPAoM, short for Experience points is collected by defeating enemies and bosses. Gaining a certain amount of EXP will raise Sumo's level by 1. The first number corresponds to the accumulated EXP during the game. The second number after the "/" shows the amount of EXP required to access the next level.
GP[edit]

GP, short for Gold pieces is used as the game's currency to buy items & equipment. It is collected by defeating enemies and bosses, but also by selling items & gears.
HP[edit]
HP or Hit points determine how much damage Sumo can take and how close he is to death. Once the counter hits "0" he is unable to battle and the player is sent to the Game Over screen.
Players can influence HP growth by raising the StaminaFFA/VITAoM stat.
Here are ways to replenish HP:
- Staying at an Inn
- Consuming a Candy
- Consuming a Potion
- Consuming a Hi-Potion
- Consuming an Elixir
- Interacting with a recovery spring.
- Using Sumo's Cure spell.
- Asking Fuji to restore them (only in certain areas/dungeons).
MP[edit]
MP or Magic points determine how many times Sumo can use magic spells. Once the counter hits "0" he is unable to use magic until replenished.
Players can influence MP growth by raising the WisdomFFA/INTAoM stat.
Here are ways to replenish MP:
- Staying at an Inn
- Consuming an Ether
- Consuming a Hi-Ether
- Consuming an Elixir
- Asking Marcy to restore them (only in Dime Tower)
AP/ATK[edit]
APFFA/ATKAoM is the raw physical damage Sumo can inflict on enemies. It is calculated by combining the PowerFFA/STRAoM stat with his currently equipped weapon's attack power.
For example, the Broadsword's attack power of 4 with a PowerFFA/STRAoM stat of 2 will deal a potential 6 damage (ignoring enemy defense).
DP/DEF[edit]
DPFFA/DEFAoM is the raw defensive potential Sumo can use to withstand enemy attack. It is calculated by combining the StaminaFFA/VITAoM stat with his currently equipped helmet & armor defense power.
For example, the Bronze Helm & Bronze Armor combined defense power of 5 with a StaminaFFA/VITAoM stat of 2 will grant Sumo a defense power of 7, lowering a monster's attack power of that equal amount. Therefore, a Rabite having an attack power of 8 will only deal 2 damage to Sumo.
Stamina/VIT[edit]
StaminaFFA/VITAoM influences the HP growth & defense power of Sumo. This stat growth is determined by the type of Growth typeFFA/Training regimenAoM chosen by the player after each level up. Using a Bacchus's Wine will temporarily raise this stat.

Will bar[edit]
The Will Bar, also known as the Attack gauge, is a gauge located at the bottom of the screen that gradually fills up over time. Once full, Sumo can perform a MAX Attack. Choosing the Will growth type in Final Fantasy Adventure or selecting the Sage type through Training regimen will help filling the gauge quicker. Using crystals on Sumo completely fills the Will bar.
Below is the approximate time the bar fills up per level.
Level | Time (in seconds) |
---|---|
1 | 30 s |
10 | 15 s |
20 | 8 s |
25 | 6,25 s |
30 | 5,1 s |
40 | 4,0 s |
50 | 3,2 s |
The gauge can be depleted or emptied by getting hit by enemy attacks or by using certain moves with currently equipped weapons. The bar will also stop when Sumo is using regular attacks or using items. The only way to fill the gauge up if to move or stand still.
The Will bar will also affect magic spell's power. Once the gauge is full, Sumo can unleash his magic at full power.
