Marcy, full name Mummy Retrieval and Containment Unit MRC-91 or shortened to Mummy Seeker, is an ally character in Final Fantasy Adventure and its direct remake Adventures of Mana. He is called Marshall in Sword of Mana. He was originally named Marcie in the Game Boy version.
Background[edit]
Marcy is an archaeological excavator robot built by the Professor at least 50 years ago to study the ruins of the Vandole Empire and contain any hostile beings found within. To this end, he was programmed with a database of ancient languages and equipped with a sophisticated laser defense system.

According to the Art of Mana illustrated book, a coworker made a sketch of Marcy as requested by Kazuko Shibuya, Final Fantasy Adventure's graphic designer, as she wasn't "good at [drawing] mechs".
General information[edit]
Physical appearance[edit]
Marcy is a humanoid robot built from a bronze alloy with a tubular construction, such that his limbs and head are more rounded than his body. His head carries a single optic sensor, and he has three-fingered hands.
Personality[edit]
Being a machine, Marcy is governed almost entirely by his programming, and as such has a static set of actions he can perform only when he assesses his surroundings. He has been instructed to function alongside a human whenever necessary, and so endeavors to be of what aid he can be. He is assumed to have a flat, monotone voice, indicated by the exclusive use of caps in text.

Marcy's model number may be an inside reference to the release of the original Seiken Densetsu in 1991.
