Matango is a location in Secret of Mana. It's a village inhabited by friendly cousins to the Mushbooms deep in the Great Forest. It is connected to Matango Cave to the south and Fung Castle to the north. Matango citizens speak their own language called Matangese. It costs 50 GP to stay at the inn.

The party comes across this bustling city while finding their way through the Great Forest.

Etymology[edit]

  • Matango is a 1963 Japanese horror film, directed by Ishirō Honda, in which a group of castaways on a deserted island encounter a strange fungus that transforms them into monstrous fungi.
