Ghost, also known as Fainted, Death, or KO, is a recurring status aliment in the Mana series.
Effect[edit]
When a character's HP reach zero, they are said to "see the reaper" and become suspended in a state between life and true death. In some games, the afflicted are simply too exhausted to continue battle. Regardless of the terms used, the afflicted can appear prostrate on the field, as ethereal versions of themselves, or vanish from sight entirely. Healing magic as a remedy for this status is quite rare, but a Cup of Wishes or a good night's rest at an inn will lift one's spirits. However, if an entire party has fallen, it becomes a Game Over.
History[edit]
Secret of Mana[edit]
Ghost happens when a player character's HP drops to zero. When afflicted by Ghost, character's sprite or model appear as transparent and they can only follow the leader without being controlled by the player. If the character was is the lead and becomes a Ghost, then the next character in line becomes the leader. Ghosts are not allowed to travel in cannons as the Cannon Brother will deny the party service. The death trap chest can automatically kill a character.
The aliment can be removed either by casting Revivifier, using a Cup of Wishes, or staying at an Inn.
Trials of Mana[edit]
Once a character's HP reaches 0, they become unable to battle and their body will lie on the ground. The usual method to revive a character is to use a Cup of Wishes on them. In the 2D version, getting the Reaper on a Trap roulette inflict instant death on the lead party member.
