Artwork of a denden from Final Fantasy Adventure

The Denden, also known as Denden Tezla, is a recurring enemy in the Mana series. They are snail-like creature with wings on their shell. They only appear in a few installments.

General Information[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

In Final Fantasy Adventure, Dendens were depicted as blue snails with conical shells on their back. They solidified their design in subsequent releases by making their shell a spiral alternating with blue and yellow spots and by adding fin-like wings on either sides. The Denden was merely crawling in its first installment, but quickly gained the ability to hover afterward.

Attributes[edit]

Dendens will often be seen in abandoned temples and places with high foliage, such as forests. They also seem to favor elevated places, like towers or mountains. They are seldom seen near water.

The Denden's strengths and weaknesses vary between games, and there isn't a true concensus about which magical attack seems to be effective against them. Some games will make them strong against Dryad and while others will make them fear it. In some other games, the Denden will have poor defense against Wisp and Undine spells.

Variants[edit]

There is only one variant of the Denden and it is found in Sword of Mana.

  • The Dark Denden Tezla is a dark version of the regular enemy. Like any dark enemy, the player must kill 1,000 of the normal species to make it appear.
