The Dark Stalker is a recurring enemy in the Mana series. Often depicted as a knight clad in heavy armor, they possess tremendous fighting skills and defensive abilities. Though they do not appear as frequently as other enemies in the Mana franchise, they are sometimes met as bosses.

General Information[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

In their original appearance, they were shown as blue armored fighters with red boots wielding a large shield. They could swipe opponents with their swords. Their design evolved in subsequent installments, often incorporating traditional medieval european knight elements, such as capes or head pieces. Dark Stalkers were considered a stronger black palette swap of the Dark Ninja in Secret of Mana.

Attributes[edit]

Dark Stalkers are commonly seen in castles, ruins, and towers, especially end-game settings. They can be viewed as elite soldiers of an imperial army.

The armored knights often favor Dark elemental power and is often weak against opposing Light magic.

Variants[edit]

There is a few similar enemies akin to the Dark Stalker in the Mana series.

  • The Dark Ninjas and Master Ninjas shares a common sprite in Secret of Mana, whith the Dark Stalker being stronger than the former, but weaker than the latter.

The Dark Stalker patrols the Glaive Castle. It can either attack by colliding into Sumo or by thrusting its sword at him, sometimes inflicting the Dark status crisis. Despite the soldier being slow moving, its high HP and attack may cause trouble for some players. Slaying one yields good experience and has a chance of leaving a chest containing a Hi-Potion. The Dark Stalker can be later encountered inside the Undersea Volcano and while climbing the Dime Tower.

In Adventures of Mana, Dark Stalkers are still quite slow and only occasionally attack.

Dark Stalkers are demonic-type enemies fought in the Underworld, the Tower of Leires, and the Bejeweled City. They can attack with their Cursed Sword attack, sometimes inflicting the Darkness status effect to their target. Dark Stalkers can drop rare equippable swords upon their demise. Hostile ones are of a dark blue shade while potential pets are of a dark brown color.

These pets could be obtained by meeting with a demonic monster egg at the Mekiv Caverns or the Ulkan Mines. Their Synchro ability may allow players to inflict Darkness onto enemies.
