Artifacts

Artifacts or AF for short are an essential part of the Land Creation System in Legend of Mana. Except for the Mailbox granted at game start, they are granted by talking to NPCs or as quest rewards.

Artifacts are stored on a checkerboard wheel at the lower right of the world map screen. Selecting an Artifact highlights valid spaces on the map with circles of light. Placing an Artifact on a space prompts an animation involving flying objects and the major features of the Land it creates popping up or being built in a cartoonish manner. Artifacts generally must be placed on a dry area of the map, though some must be placed on or near water and others may be placed anywhere.

05	Stone Eye	Lake Kilma		Obtained by either clearing The Lost Princess or Two Torches	“This artifact uses the power of the Master of the Lake to turn to stone those who harm the lake. However, the power does not respond to the will of mankind.”

10	Trembling Spoon	Underworld		Obtained by either clearing The Spirits' Light	“A silver spoon for scooping up flames to baptize departed souls into the Underworld. Sometimes a soul who resists death becomes trapped inside; then the spoon begins to tremble and must be discarded.”

18	Dragonbone	The Bone Fortress		Obtained by clearing The Guardian of Winds	“Ages ago, the bones of dragons were used by alchemists. The Dragons of Wisdom lived the longest and had unbelievable powers. Their bones were the hardest to find.”
19	Bottled Spirit	Ulkan Mines		Obtained by either clearing Teatime of Danger or Drowned Dreams	“Once, a foolish mage attempted to seize the powers of a spirit by imprisoning it in a bottle. The mage was immediately slain by the spirit's curse, but the bottle containing a powerful spirit remained.”
20	Pirate's Hook	SS Buccaneer		Obtained by either clearing Drowned Dreams or The Looking-Glass Tower	“When a land-dweller first sets out to sea, he is faced with dangers unknown. Even after replacing a lost hand with a hook, pirates continue to challenge these dangers everyday.”

24	Brooch of Love	Lucemia		Speak to Matilda during Heaven's Gate	“This was given to a mage who promised to acknowledge all and understand all. Whoever wears this brooch is charged with overcoming any ordeal through love.”
25	Jumi's Staff	Bejeweled City		Speak to Florina during the Teardrop Crystal quest	“A staff replete with the power of gems of every color. The jewels draw in and store the waves of various kinds of Mana. They can then be released.”
