“Grandpa sorcerer hid a Sproutling in his dream! Wow, that grandpa can really do amazing things. I wonder if I can do that?”
Cactus Diaries, entry 44

The Cage of Dreamsl is a quest in Legend of Mana.

Premise[edit]

A Sproutling has collapsed in front of the protagonist's house, surrounded by Li'l Cactus and three others of his kin. One of them say that he has been chosen to go the spiritual world to become part fo a big tree. The Sproutling explains to Li'l Cactus that plants are all connected by their roots, even though they look like separate beings. If many plants rejoin the big tree in the spiritual dimension, then the tree will be revived in Fa'Diel. Li'l Cactus hurris back to his pot upstairs trying to process the information. Meanwhile, Nunuzac and Belle argue in the Workshops about the Sproutling the former hid away. The dream spirit then asks the main character to retrieve the sproutling Nunuzac trapped in a dream, as it won't be able to become part of the Mana Tree. The circular sorcerer declares that Sproutlings should not become part of the big tree and remain as they are since he have borne witness to the ruin that befalls when people vie to harness the tree's power. As the hero head outside the Workshops, he/she stumbles into Pokiehl who wants to talk to Nunuzac. The Wisdom tells the sorcerer that it's time for the Sproutling to be part of the Mana Tree, to which Nunzac wonders if the Wisdoms has chosen war over peace, since folks have proven that they can live perfectly fine without the Mana Tree's powers, and refuses to cooperate. The Dream poet replies that the Mana Tree brings many blessings to people's lives such as love bringing bounty to all while not being absolutely necessary. Nunuzac replies by saying that some people might harm others or steal to attain those blessings. Pokiehl answers back that the sorcerer's view of the world in incomplete, as love is what fuels bliss by sharing it. Nunuzac thinks everyone's a fool deep at heart and would even follow the Deathbringer's teachings if they had to, bringing back an age of darkness. THe old magician seems to regret uttering those words as Pokiehl head back outside, but the Wisdom lasts words about praying for his soul even if he decides to destroy the world lingers in his heart. The main character is teleported in what seems to be the dream world, taking the shape of Mekhiv Caverns. The lone Sproutling is found deeper inside, remembering its task to fuse with the Mana Tree by focusing on the light of love on the tree's wounds. A otherworldly voice echoes in the distance, telling the main character to take the Sword of Mana Artifact in his/her hands.

Solution[edit]

When you get Home you may find your Cactus outside with a dead Sproutling. Note: This Event always happens, but not always at the same time. You may need to place the next AF in Map/Land Guide to trigger this event.

Go into your house to follow the Cactus. Talk to it and then leave your house. Go to the Workshops see the conversation. Leave and talk to Pokiehl outside the Workshops. Go back inside and talk to the wheel when Pokiehl leaves.

Now you’ll be in another Dreamworld. Follow path to get to the Sproutling. After all is said and done you will get the Sword of Mana AF.
