The Mana Spirits are recurring characters in the Mana series.

Background[edit]

Making their inaugural appearance in Secret of Mana, the Mana Spirits are an octet of ethereal beings that govern each of a world's eight natural elements and allow spellcasters to summon their aid in times of need. Their life force relies on the very mana sought after by friend and foe alike; and yet they call upon it to bend the natural world to their will, granting protection to their masters and peril unto their foes.

The company of eight is as follows:

  • Undine, Mana Spirit of water
  • Salamander, Mana Spirit of fire
  • Jinn, Mana Spirit of wind and thunder
  • Gnome, Mana Spirit of earth
  • Wisp, Mana Spirit of light
  • Shade, Mana Spirit of darkness
  • Luna, Mana Spirit of the moon
  • Dryad, Mana Spirit of wood.

Legend of Mana eschews Luna and replaces her with Aura, Mana Spirit of metal.

History[edit]

Trials of Mana[edit]

“Elementals -- Earth, water, fire, wind, light, dark, moon, and wood; an elemental exists for each of the eight Mana Stones. They exist in the world using the same mana power as Faerie.”
Adventure Log

Heroes of Mana[edit]

“Keepers of the Mana Stones, the spirits rule the eight elements of the world: the moon, fire, water, wood, wind, earth, light, and shadow. The company of an elemental spirit enables one to use magic.”
