“Learned Dudbear words to sell lamps to Dudbears! Just what is master up to? But it's neat that master comes by to tell me funny stories like that.”

The Spirits' Light, called Faeries' Light in the original game, is a quest in Legend of Mana.

Premise[edit]

During his/her trip to Lumina, the protagonist stops by "Limelight" Lamp Shop to talk to the owner Monique. She confides in the hero, saying that business has been slow today and that she wishes selling six more lamps or considers even closing shop and move to another town. Their conversation is immediately interrupted by a centaur named Gilbert, who pleads the owner to reconsider her words since this would means leaving him, her poet of love. The lampmonger replies that is she doesn't seel her lamps, she'll starve, which gives the lovestruck centaur an idea. He declares that he'll sell the six lamps for her, considering this the first step of their romantic story. Waiting outside the shop, Gilbert decides to coerce the protagonist into helping him sells the lamps, to which the main character can accept or not. Should he/she help selling the lamps, the hero now wanders around town until he/she stumbles into the Manager, who glady accept teaching him/her the Dudbear language to facilitate transactions. Now a seasoned speaker of Dudbear tongue, the protagonist manages to sell all the lamps and returns to Gilbert, ecstatic about the prospect of offcially declaring his love to Monique. Back inside Monique's shop, the centaur shares the good news to the owner, who think of tending the establishment for a while longer. Gilbert disagrees and tries convincing his beloved to go out with him and admire the starry sky. Monique agrees, saying that she's been kept up inside her shop for six days straight. The couple exit the premises. The protagonist can overhear their conversation a few feet away from her boutique, in which Gilbet tells Monique that she can get rid of her menial vendor life by giving the dirty work to the Dudbears, even commissioning a famous designer to make them a masterpiece. Despite all his efforts, his love interest admits that she enjoys her work and feels like every day is a dream come true. She then adds that she cannot feel being herself whenever she's with him. This momentarily saddens the romantic centaur, saying that their dreams might be incompatible, declaring that he must leave this town in order to look for a new love. The two bid farewell to one another, bearing no ill feelings. The main character can then return to her shop, learning that this sudden breakup weights her down. A trio of Dudbear suddenly enter, telling her that they love her lamps, which cheers her up greatly. The gives the main character the Trembling Spoon Artifact as thanks.
