Heaven's Gate is a quest in Legend of Mana.
Premise[edit]
The protagonist heads back to Matilda in Gato Grottoes, only to hear a legend from her that the Wyrm of Light, Lucemia, descended to earth and swallowed sevent cities and burned to death after consuming a volcano. Apparently, his hard shell still remains centuries after his death. According to what Irwin told her, he plans to revive the creature and bring chaos to the world once more. Daena, who's been listening to the story this whole time, asks her friend why she did not stop him. The abbess replies that since she loves him, allowing him to be free from doing what he pleases brings her utmost happiness. The cat warrior doesn't understand how she and Irwin can be together in the Land of Faeries forever instead, preventing such a disaster to occur. Matilda confides in Daena her last words to her: The imperial soldiers simply fight because their emperor tells them; the pirates steal because they desire what belongs to others; who is more sinful? Neither one is, since it was the Goddess who gave us freedom. To deny others their freedom is the true sin. Daena replies that she'll kill Irwin, to which the Abbess expresses a satisfactory smile. The priestess adds that once she's sure that Daena, Irwin, and the protagonist remain free, then the curtain will fall on her role in this world. This realization makes her feline warrior distraught at the idea of losing her childhood friend. The Abbess gives the main character the Brooch of Love Artifact to create Lucemia.
The team is then transported by the Cancun Bird into the flying fortress. During their search for Irwin atop the treacherous structure, they meet with Selva, the Wind Wisdom, who tells them that Irwin is just toying with them. This doesn't deter the adventurers and they continue exploring. The team finally reaches the Wyrm's head, where Irwin lies, declaring that his sole purpose is to eradicate them from this world ,as it is their fate to perish for stealing from the lands of Fa'Diel. He then proceeds to transform into a demonic beast that the party must slay to prevent world disaster. Defeating the monster makes the fortress collapses as the adventurers are rescued in the nick of time by the Cancun Bird. Back at Gato Grottoes, the party learns from a nun that Abbess Matilda passed away just a moment ago, but her body has mysteriously disappeared from the Dreamweaving Room.
Meanwhile, a group of Faeries in the Jungle sense their Lord Irwin's presence vanishing. They are confused as he should have been the one who would annihilate the humans. Another Faerie hypothesizes that maybe they are the one about to go extinct, as they were so caught up with memories of war that they forgot who they really are. Another scene cuts to the Underworld where Olbohn is informed by a Shadole that they are spirits wandering here without permission. The Dark Wisdom replies to let them wander since they are not causing any trouble. An apparition of Matilda suddenly appears before Olbohn, to which the latter asks her if she has agreed to Selva's proposal. The Abbess agrees as the Archdemon of Hell adds that she shouldn't stay in that old lady appearance anymore since Irwin always regretted what he did in the Ulkan Mines. The priestess automatically reverts back to her younger self again, asking where her beloved is. Olbohn gladly ask her is she wants him to escorts her to the lower levels, but the young lady states that she will go by herself. At the same time, the newly deceased Irwin is harrassed by a group Shadoles telling him about the rules of the Underworld. Matilda barges in, effectively making the little devils go away. She asks the demon how does it feel to be dead? He replies that he's more surprised by her powers than his own death. Matilda explains that this is the power of the Universe, as their souls can create anything we desire in an instant. Irwin replies that since he's a demon, all he wishes is to destroy. The dead abbess answers back, saying it's not true, as he helped her creating herself. All her life people were molding her into someone she wasn't, but when she met him, she could start becoming the person she really is. Irwin replies that she has cast a shadow on his heart for a very long time. Should he be reborn, he would wish to be freed from a spell named Matilda and destroy the world. Matilda admits that she is here with him not only because she wished for it, but he did too. She then adds that this unfair world will be destroyed soon. Hoping for him to embrace her, the leans forward, but the Demon vanishes in front of her, as Selva appears behind her while she weeps.
Solution[edit]
- Enter Gato Grottoes.
- Go to the Dreamweaving Room.
- Talk to Matilda to get the Brooch of Love AF. Place it in the map to create Lucemia.
- Go to Lucemia. You can take any companion with you or go alone, but if Escad is alive and not taken along, he will die and be unavailable after this event.
- Head to area 30 on the map to get to Irwin.
- Defeat Irwin to end the final Event with Escad and company.
