A Siren's Song is a quest in Legend of Mana.

Premise[edit]

Imperial soldiers in the "Mischevious Spirit" Tavern in Lumina complain about not finding the Lamp Shop and the bizarre architecture of the town. One of them tells the protagonist that one of their ships was sunk, and the survivors say they heard a strange voice. Another suspects the culprit to be Monique, the Siren at the Lamp Shop to be involved. While investigating her boutique, another Soldier says that the simple fact that she's not here is an admission of guilt in his eyes.

Monique can be found at the the Seaside Hotel's Quayside in Polpota Harbor. She says she came to see her friend Elle but that she cannot find her. A pair imperial Soldiers burst into the quay, accusing her of sanking her ship. The siren swears that they have the wrong person, since even though she's the right species, she was too busy making lamps to leave her workshop. Another soldier holler at his peers, telling him they've found the culprit. The trio of soldiers discuss their plan to let the Siren shrivel up and die, making the other Sirens hate them. Another soldier retorts that Sirens are only good for singing and sinking ships, and cannot hurt them if they trap them on dry land. Atop a cliff nearby, Thoma leaves a bouquet while chanting an eulogy to those who've perished in the sinking incident. This makes the mysterious hotel ghost materialize in front of him, whom he mistakenly refer to the Jewel Hunter. However, the specter is revealed to be Thona, on the the crewmen who died at sea. He tells Thoma that he shan't die until the imperial order is fulfilled. He also adds, that His Highness is immortal and controls the dead. This makes Thoma wonders about the dead rising back in the days, but the ghostly warrior elopes by taking a portal before his very eyes.

The protagonist decides to search around Madora Beach for the captive Siren. He/She then founds Monique and Flameshe attempting to free Elle from a giant tree-like prison. Elle admits that she was the one who sank the ship, but Monique replies that she only sang a song, as sailors pin their misfortunes on their kind all the time. The captive Siren says that the imperial soldiers told her she can sing here since it's away from the sailing routes. Monique angrily replies that she has the right to live freely, but Elle is comfortable up there since there's not soldier around and comments about Monique being cooped up in her atelier back in Lumina. Monique remarks that freedom is inside her heart, and right now Elle is shutting herself off from that. A the cage's base, Flameshe tells the protagonist that she won't let her come out since it's too dangerous with all the soldiers around. Monique replies that the hero can protect Elle since he/she's proven him/herself by mastering the Dudbear language and sold all of her lamps back in Lumina. Flameshe is still incredulous about it, but lets the protagonist enter the cage, inside which he/she must combat a giant plant monster to reach Elle. After dealing with the menace, the two sirens and the mermaid are reunited inside. Elle still wants to stay inside for a while, telling her friends she's a coward.

Solution[edit]

Enter Lumina. Go to the Tavern in the western section and enter the Alley there. Talk to the soldiers and go to the Lamp Shop. Talk to the soldier there too.

Enter Polpota Harbor. Take the path between the hotel and the restaurant and talk to Monique. Go to the beach and talk to the soldiers to continue this Event.

Enter Madora Beach and follow these directions:

  • Left
  • Upper Left
  • Upper Left
  • Left
  • Talk to the Mermaid

Now you must walk to the right side of the screen and wait for the mermaid to change into a bubble. Right when it starts to morph, run over to the cage and walk through the gate.

Battle Tropicallo to end this Event.
