Cascade Cottage is a dwelling in Sword of Mana. As the name suggests, it is a small, one-floor cottage located north and west of Topple in Topple Outskirts in the greater Topple region at the north of the world, next to the great waterfall and the lake it flows into. The former Gemma Knight Bogard lives here as a woodcutter.

Story[edit]

As the Heroine[edit]

Cascade Cottage is where the game begins when playing as the Heroine, as she and Bogard had stayed there briefly. It is unknown who, if anyone, actually owns the cottage.

After the prologue and dream sequence of the destruction of Mana Village and Heroine's Escape, the Heroine wakes up screaming in the cottage, she then tells Bogard to always have the same dream from that old memory in which she abandons a boy and leaves his family behind to die.

Bogard scolds her so that she understands that there are things beyond our control, which there is nothing that can be done, even comparing her to the Dark Lord for not understanding that.

She wishes to seek the truth of what happened to the boy, Bogard replies that she must seek it herself and asks the boy's name.

The Heroine reveals the name, and he reply to know him as the son of consul Hermann, she asks if his parents were killed but he is not sure, but tries to give her some hope.

Then he says that they should start looking for survivors of the Mana clan in Topple, as well, he has a lot to do. So the two leave the cottage.

Later in the game, suspecting about the guy she met to be a heretic hunter of Granz and worried about Bogard, the Heroine returns to the hut.

As the Hero[edit]

Upon making his way to Wendel to find Cibba, after seeing that the Path to cave is impassable, the Hero follows to Cascade Cottage where a swordman mentioned in Topple lives, as soon as he enters, he finds the place empty, only a letter on the table which mentions to meet up someone in Wendel. Then, the girl he met in Path to Topple enters the cottage.

Both stories continuation[edit]

After passing in Topple, both heroes met again in the cottage. The Heroine enters there and finds the Hero inside, thinking he is one of the realm's heretic hunter soon attacks him, but later everything is clarified.

The Hero tell her about Bogard's letter, and then she will summon Wisp, who will appear to recover both, leaving him astonished. Soon after, the Heroine see that he is a good person and teaches him how to use spirits. Shortly after showing the letter, the Hero also tells his reason to travel to Wendel, so the two decide to join forces and travel together.

The protagonist warns that the path to Wendel has been sealed, so they must first travel to Vinquette Hall. Then, the two leaves the cottage.
