Story[edit]
As the Hero[edit]
In his search for Amanda and the pendant, the Hero hears people in Jadd talking about seeing her enter Devius Manor, and also some conversations about her brother Lester, minstrels disappearing mysteriously and a little about the Count.
When the Hero goes there, in a cutscene, he will see some birds and will thinking it was one those he released earlier in Wendel.
Entering the mansion, a maid will mention that Devius is not at home at the moment. When the Hero speaks to the two guards near the north door, at first they will deny passage, but a bird will reappear, and they recognize the Hero as the one who returned them, letting him into the room.
Passing through the door, Amanda will meet the protagonist, who will saying to have come looking for her, shortly after, he will notices that the door is locked, in turn Amanda apologizes for making him worried.
Next, he asks about the pendant, which she confess to swiped it, but only to save his life. Explaining what happened, she will apologize for not asking it first, and say she only did it because she thought he could have died. After a dialogue in which the two strength up their relationship and make a promess, Amanda introduces Lady Medusa to the Hero, and tells him to try to convince her to let them out, joining the Hero soon after.
When talking to Medusa, Amanda will explain that she has a broken heart , and will feel sorry for her.
Suddenly, a bird begins to sing a song that Amanda recognizes as Lester's, while the Hero will remembered it as the same one he hearded in Wendel, also discovering that Lester is her brother. The music will stop Medusa's lament, so the two begin to suspect that Lester has been transformed into the bird just like the other Minstrels, Amanda doesn't believe it at first, and the Hero reply to release him from the cage.
Amanda will try to break the cage, but Medusa will intervene by casting a spell on one of the rabite after the two dodged it, turning it into a bird, confirming their suspicious.
Soon, two maids entered, and were furious that the pair had discovered Medusa's secret, suddenly, Medusa will say that someone is calling her, the maids tried to calm her down, but she will say that she must go to the Altar of Time, a place built by the Mavoles according to some people information, where he waits for her. Knoking out the maids, Medusa leaves.
Resuming control of the character, when searching one of the maids, he will find the key to the cage, and will be able to free Lester, who will fly out, so the two decide to follow him.
Immediately, the two discover that Lady Medusa has turned almost everyone in the manor into birds, Amanda will say that Lester probably also went to the Altar of Time, so the two leave there by the Jadd Desert.
As the Heroine[edit]
When the Heroine and Bogard enters the manor, there are a lot of birds everywhere, Bogard feels that the place is full of magical power, going to the scenery ahead they find Genoa, who explains that Lady Medusa turned everyone into birds.
After mentioning the name, Bogard is surprised that she is alive, explaining to the Heroine that she is a Mavole princess and wife of Lord Granz, shocked, the Heroine understands now that the Dark Lord is Medusa's son, even thinking her name was cursed, but the Gemma Knight says it's superstition.
Genoa reports that Medusa lost a lot of her strength when she came to the human world, but nobody knows the reason. Bogard says that Lord Granz was doubtful if he could use Mana power to heal her, so he asked him and the Mana chief Kaseem who were debating for a long time, leaving Medusa abandoned.
He explains that Granz refused to use magic, yet saying that with Vandole's situation it would be very risky, which made Medusa over time lose her memory and fall into deep despair, as Genoa says, giving a tragic ending to the union between human and Mavole.
Finally, she says that Medusa went to the Dune Maze, where she and Lord Granz pledged their eternal love, Bogard asks if there is anything they can do, Genoa reply they can destroy the altar where they made their vows, it will be the only hope. With that, the two leave for the Jadd desert.
Both stories continuation[edit]
Later, after being forced to battle and kill Medusa, and the events that followed, including Amanda's death, the Hero and Heroine return to the manor with Lester.
When they arrive at the entrance, the Heroine argues her surprise that Lady Medusa was Lord Granz's wife and Devius and the Dark Lord are their children, which means, they are brothers.
The Hero reply sad that the Dark Lord killed his parents, and he had to do the same with their mother, which he regrets it.
In the Hero's story, the Heroine encourages him by saying that she believes in him, so the Hero thanks her and tell that he must correct this situation. Soon, Lester gives the Hero the blood of his sister who healed him to be used on the other minstrels and the others people. The Heroine also reminds him to rescue Bogard. Thereby, the Hero swears revenge against Devius and enters the Manor.
In the Heroine's story, the Heroine encourages him saying to believe in himself, she also say that he should not raise the sword with hatred. He reply that he won't see Amanda' smile anymore, but she will argue that Devius also lost someone. Soon, Lester gives the Hero the blood of his sister who healed him to be used on the other minstrels and the others people. Then, the Heroine ask him if he remembers the first time they meet Devius in Wendel, arguing that when he was listening to Lester's song, he looks like a child without home. Therefore, since both sides have lost themselves to hatred and sadness, she feels that if the Hero does something he will regret it. So he leaves it up to her, soon Lester joins her and the two enter the mansion.
Going to Medusa's room backdoor, speaking with Genoa, she will opens the door for the Hero. As for the Heroine, before she opens the door she asks if Medusa die peacefully, which the Heroine reply confirming and Genoa thanks her. If the protagonist speakings with her again, she teaches about the relationship of the door mechanisms with the sound of the bells, so the protagonist climbs the clock tower.
Upon reaching the top, the protagonist finds Bogard trapped inside a cage, soon the main character tells him about Amanda's death and trying to break the cage, but fails, because according to Bogard, there is a powerful magic trapping him, which can only be undone by defeating Devius.
Then, Bogard says that this is a payback for abandoning Medusa, for the Hero, he explaining that if he had used mana power she could have survived, but he refused because would go against any principle. As for the Heroine, he tell that Medusa's body was diseased or cursed, and he refuse to use mana power as using Vandole's exemple.
After a brief dialogue, Bogard laments and he will admit to be wrong, saying that from the perspective of Devius and the Dark Lord, everyone who holds the accumulated mana power is the enemy.
Thus, in his story, the Hero goes next door to battle against Devius. Upon getting there, the Hero finds Devius, wanting revenge for his mother's death, while in turn, the protagonist wants to avenge Amanda, thereby, a battle take place with Devius transforming into a monster form.
As for the Heroine, she trys to talk and conciliates with him, but in anger, he doesn't listen. Soon, he transforms into a monster form.
After the battle, returning to his original form and seriously injured, Devius wants the protagonist to finish him off, which both adamantly refuses, in his story, the Hero saying they are even, while the Heroine in hers, argues that knowing his deep sorrow she would have avoid fighting with him. Suddenly, a mysterious voice speaks as Devius recognizes it as Julius's.
Julius tells Devius to forgive humans and their idea of justice, mocking at the idea of letting him to suffer. So, he insists that the protagonist must kill Devius, but both of them refuses, even offering as an alternative to the main character to heal his wounds.
But this time Devius refuses, and soon asks the Hero not to hesitate and finish the job. As for the Heroine, he says that she reminds his mother and tell her to not follow her ill-fated footsteps, having accepted his fate.
Suddenly, Goremand appears breaking through the scenery and steals Devius' soul, and then disappears.
The scene cuts to the protagonist and his group in front of the manor, mourning all the deaths, in the Hero's story, he is frustrated that his desire for revenge has caused him only more pain, and remembering what Cibba said, he begins to question whether he is worthy of the Mana Sword.
In the Heroine's story, she is saddened by all the deaths that have occurred, and by not being able to come to terms with Devius, even questioning what Amanda would have thought of them as a result.
Then, in both stories, Lester asks them to play a song for those who died, so the Hero delivers Lord Granz's lute, which was Medusa's memento.
In a cutscene, music echoes through various places and touches the hearts of people and even those who died, causing the toxic fog in Miasma Glen to cease.
At dusk in the entrance, Genoa gives the heroes the moon spirit Luna, which according to her had a special place in Medusa's heart, insisting to keep it, then leave inside the manor.
Luna try to cheer up saying that Medusa has high hopes for the protagonist in the future, and advise to stop living in the past and move on and think ahead, joining the group.
Shortly after, Bogard excuses himself to stay with his thoughts, asking them to go to Granz Castle without him, the Heroine will also decides to stay with him, in the Hero's story, Lester joins the Hero and the two set out on their journey through the Miasma Glen to the castle.
In the Heroine's story, heading back to Devius manor entrance, the Heroine overhear Bogard blame himself for all the deaths, and after a brief conversation, he rejoins her and they make their way.
