Lumina, also known as Wisp, is one of the Mana Spirits in the Mana games, and they first appeared in Secret of Mana. Lumina is associated with the element of light, and their name and appearance is derived from the will-o'-the-wisp. The English localized name, Lumina, is derived from the Latin word for the element of light, lux. Lumina is generally depicted as a light blue flame with a bright yellow face inside of it. As per their element, Lumina's powers manipulate holy light for purposes of healing, divine protection, and retribution against the undead as well as other creatures of shadow. Though they almost always have a bright and cheerful disposition, they do not often get along with Shade, their polar opposite.
Though commonly portrayed as a young boy in Japanese scripts and a female in other languages throughout most of the series, both Trials of Mana and Visions of Mana cast Lumina as male.

History[edit]
Secret of Mana[edit]
In Secret of Mana, Lumina is acquired by the party after they clear the Light Palace during Jehk's errand, meaning she can be obtained any time after the events of the Imperial Palace. It is revealed that King Mammon had her imprisoned within the palace so as to force her to transmute the stone of the island into gold, thus creating his opulent Gold City.
When freed, Lumina grants her power to Primm alone, then warns that without her, the island and city will revert to their former state. Primm gains the ability to call Lucent Beam, Light Saber, and Lucid Barrier.
Trials of Mana[edit]
In all versions of Trials of Mana, Lumina is the first elemental obtained by the party. He was captured by Fullmetal Hugger in Cascade Cavern, whose defeat frees him to join the heroes. The heroes gain access to Healing Light, Twinkle Rain, Holy Bolt, Lucent Beam, Magic Shield, and Light Saber among the list of light-based moves.
In remake versions, Lumina's voice has a mildly effeminate edge.
Heroes of Mana[edit]
- “The spirit who controls the power of radiant light. A straight arrow who acts with modesty towards everyone.”
- —Notebook
Dawn of Mana[edit]
- “Have no fear, for I am here! My light is so amazingly bright, it makes the enemies lose their sight!”
- —Lumina
Lumina is the fifth Mana Spirit to join Keldric and Faye, obtained in Chapter 3. Her ability momentarily blinds enemies in range.
Lumina is voiced with a French accent.
Children of Mana[edit]
In Children of Mana, Wisp is one of the spirits who accompanies the hero on their journey. Lumina's attack magic ability is Holy Orb, in which she turns into a ball and circles around the screen clockwise, damaging enemies in her path. Her support magic ability is Healing Light, which restores 30 HP to a character at the cost of some MP. If the hero has Wisp's Favor, they can put it in the Gem Frame to increase Wisp's attack power.
Circle of Mana[edit]
Lumina makes a cameo appearance in the online game, along with several other characters from the Mana series. She appears in 1 set of cards.
