Moti is a minor character in Dawn of Mana and a supporting character in Children of Mana.

Background

In Children of Mana, Moti is the mayor of the Mana Village, originally from Jadd. He led an expedition to Illusia Isle, and when the research was over the members of the expedition made the island their home, asking him to be the mayor despite his young age. He took the orphan Ferrik under his wing and trained him as a swordsman.

History

Dawn of Mana

Moti is mentioned as one of the four leaders of Fa'Diel who gathered in an emergency meeting in a palace in Topple at the end of Chapter 2. The leaders couldn't send their army combat the lorimarian army, and neither decide on what to do next, as fruitless discussions led to no definitive action.

Children of Mana

If Ferrik is chosen as the main character, he will be seen in his introductory cutscene training with Moti and discussing the young boy's past. A short while later, Tess gives the main character her notes to give to the mayor before heading for her daily prayers at the Mana Tower. Here Moti is visited by Watts, who brings disturbing news about a mysterious geode one of his men dug up. According to Professor Bomb, it can alter the essence of any living thing. Moti is worried that this gem can be linked to a potential return of the power of Mavolia. The Gates to Mavolia were shut by the Mana Goddess ten years prior. Moti recalls sensing something strange about the Mana Tree lately, but their conversation is interrupted by an earthquake. Pete rushes inside the house to tell the group that something's wrong with the village's central stone. The whole village is gathered in front of the now glowing stone, who end up cracking all over in the process. Nana, who was about to pray with Tess, ran back to the village after a massive white light enveloped the whole tower, leaving the maiden behind. The player character rushes to the Mana tower to investigate. Watts gives the Gem frame to the protagonist while Moti lends him/her his Magic Rope before leaving.

Back in the Mana Village, Moti and Watts are processing all the information the duo had told him, with the Holy Sword being the center of discussion. Tess says that the light emitted from the weapon almost protected them form the dark-clad man. Moti and Watts shudders at what the strange man said about the world's fall, possibly hinting at the Gates to Mavolia opening again. The two elders agree to look into the matter and inquire the other nations about the columns of lights appearing in their respective regions. Moti is reluctant to involve the protagonist in something so dangerous, but considers him/her to be the chosen by the Holy Sword in the end. He entrusts the main character to investigate the light around Topple as his/her first mission. Tess urges the protagonist to be careful and that she will be praying for him/her.

Brother Moti makes a cameo appearance alongside many other characters from the Mana series.

General information

Physical appearance

Moti is a young man with tan skin and gray eyes. He wears a large white turban adorned with a red jewel above his left ear with a purple tassel dangling from it. He wears a white cape, trousers, and brassards with several gold bangles around both arms and calves. His pants are overlayed with a highly decorated fabric wrapped around his waist. Finally, he sports Balgha style purple and gold shoes.

Personality

Moti is depicted as a calm and collected leader whose main priorities is his comrades' security. He prefers taking measured approaches to find sensible solutions to problems, and can often be seen absorbed in his studies.
