The Great Viper is a recurring boss in the Mana series. Debuting in Secret of Mana, it consisted a long green serpent whose body comprised of several round segments. Its updated redesign from Rise of Mana shows are more realistic snake with a smaller head and more elaborate patterns on its back along with tendrils.

In Secret of Mana, the serpent is aligned with Earth and fears Wind magic. It can cast Gem Missile spell to opponents and can also pigmyze on contact.

Despite not appearing in the handheld installment, the Great Viper's Secret of Mana design may had been inspired by the Megapede's segmented body.

Secret of Mana

The Great Viper is heavily hinted to be the monster responsible for killing the White Dragon pup's parents. The serpent is found at the end of the cave behind Matango must be slain so the party can rescue the young dragon.

Rise of Mana

Main article: Petit Boa (Rise of Mana)

The Petit Boa can be recruited as a Monster Pet.
