Dragon is a term referring to many bosses in the Mana series. The typical dragons fought as bosses look like the typical european depiction of the creature: a giant lizard with horns on its head, spikes on its back and large wings. Typical for high-fantasy settings, the dragons of the Mana universe are often tied to an element, reflecting their color palette.
In the first two installments, dragons were fought late in the game, typically in the Sanctuary of Mana. They would be able to breath flames of their elemental affinity and cast magic as well. In Final Fantasy Adventure, they would move on the ground while they would gain flight in Secret of Mana, occasionally leaving the arena to avoid damage. Echoes of Mana dragons would use the Dragon Dive physical move to damage their opponent in addition to their elemental breath attack.
Appearances[edit]

Dragon[edit]
The Dragon is the first guardian of the Temple of Mana and blocks the way to the Temple of Mana Atrium. In the original Game Boy installment, the Dragon loops around the arena clockwise with some zigzags when on the lower side. It hurls down explosions at the protagonist while doing so.
In Adventures of Mana, the Dragon tries to follow Sumo from a distance. It swipes its claws at him if close enough and will spit three fire balls if he’s too far. The whole arena will shake with each of the Dragon’s steps. Defeating it will reward the player with the Dragon Drubber achievement.
Red Dragon[edit]
The Red Dragon comes after the Dragon and prevents Sumo from reaching the Temple of Mana Corridor. In the original Game Boy installment, the Dragon loops around the arena counterclockwise with some zigzags when on the lower side. It hurls down explosions at the protagonist while doing so.
In Adventures of Mana, the Red Dragon is pretty much the same fight as the Dragon. It tries to follow Sumo from a distance. It swipes its claws at him if close enough and will spit three fire balls if he’s too far. The whole arena will shake with each of the Red Dragon’s steps. Defeating it will reward the player with the Red Dragon Destroyer achievement.
Zombie Dragon[edit]
The Zombie Dragon is the last roadblock before reaching the Mana Shrine, the innermost section of the last dungeon.
In the original Game Boy version, the Zombie Dragon follows the same movements as the Hydra and keeps itself to the right-hand side of the arena. It hurls fireballs at the protagonist while moving.
In Adventures of Mana, the Zombie Dragon will spit out three shadow balls at Sumo and will often follow through with spinning flames. Touching the Zombie Dragon will blind Sumo. Some shadow balls can transform into trails of dark fire. The Zombie Dragon can also spit out dark mist that will poison the hero on contact. He can also poison the protagonist by colliding into it. Defeating it will reward the player with the Zombie Dragon Devastator achievement.
An interesting note to point out is the Zombie Dragon being a palette-swap of the Hydra, sharing its moveset and movements as well.
