The Megapede is a boss in Final Fantasy Adventure and its direct remake Adventures of Mana.
Overview[edit]
While searching for mythril ore in the Abandoned Mine, Sumo and Watts are attacked by the Megapede who corners them in its arena. The team must aim for the head, the creature’s weak spot to take it down. The protagonist manages to slay the giant critter and retrieve the precious mineral to get the merchant dwarf to forge mythril gear in order to get through Gaia Pass.
In the original Game Boy game, the Megapede alternates its hiding spots between the upper and the right holes and emerges from the right or lower hole.
In Adventures of Mana, the Megapede has very similar movement pattern, but now move a bit faster with each hit taken. Furthermore, it quickly buries itself in a hole after sustaining enough damage. Defeating it will reward the player with the Ankheg Annihilator achievement.
