The Fierce Face, also known as Demon, Demon Head or Fierce Head, is a recurring enemy in the Mana series. They are depicted as giant disembodied fiend head who can often cast devilish magic to hinder their opponent.

General Information[edit]

Physical Description[edit]

Earlier depictions of the Fierce Face had them as a blue head of a demon floating above ground with a horn on its forehead. Some remakes of said games removed the horn and have them earrings instead. Starting Legend of Mana, the Fierce Face was surrounded by ghostly fire and an extra horn was added. They attack by casting powerful fire or dark magic depending on the installment, as well as firing laser beams and biting their enemies.

Attributes[edit]

Fierce Faces prefer to live in dark or desertic environments like hot deserts, caverns, etc. Being demonic creatures, they also enjoy lurking in forsaken temples, eerie ruins, or other evil-infested areas.

The dark element is their sustenance and therefore resist magic of this kind. In some games, they are also strong against fire spells. The best way to make them disappear is to pelt them with light magic.

Variants[edit]

The Fierce Face has a few stronger variants.

  • Mean Mask, also known as the Fiend Head, is a yellow or green variant of the demonic head.

The Demon takes the shape of a disembodied head that only appears in the Temple of Mana and is among the last enemies of the game to show up. It is among the toughest of all regular monsters, boasting high HP, high attack and defense power, in addition to inflicting the Dark status on collision. Defeating it reward the player with lots of experience and gold and can even either grant a Hi-Ether or the elusive Samurai Helm as a rare drop.

In Adventures of Mana, Demons retain their slow movement.
