Tropicallo is a large plant creature appearing in a few Mana games. It made its debut in Secret of Mana as the second boss of the game and is encountered in the Dwarf Village. Tropicallo's overall appearance is vastly different between installments. In Secret of Mana, it consists of a large pineapple at its base with larges leafy stem comprising its middle section and a round yellow head with a large pointy eyes and with three leaves on its top. In Legend of Mana, Tropicallo is a hanging vine monster with two serpentine bodies coverted with leaves from which sprouts two enormous jaws.

Tropicallo is aligned with Dryad and is weak to Luna attacks. It usually attacks by summoning its tendrils or by spitting out Pumpkin Bombs.

The pineapple-shaped creature first appears in Dwarf Village as Randi gets refunded by Popoi and the Dwarf Elder for their shoddy performance. As he leaves the elder’s house, an earthquake is felt and lures the hero into the monsters’ den. Defeating it reveals an opening in the cave leading to the Underground Palace. Randi must first ask Elinee the witch to remove the barrier protecting it. The sprite joins the hero in hopes of finding a way to regain their memories.

Gameplay

In the original SNES game, Tropicallo would bury itself in the ground only coming out of its protective shell to spit out bouncing pumpkin bombs on the arena. The hero could only deal damage when the face was exposed, thus would have to time its swings. Furthermore, a vine would quickly grow near the creature to inflict poison to the party.

In the 2010 mobile installment, the plant monster is a little by slower when shooting out its Pumpkin Bombs. The fight is otherwise extremely similar to the original 1993 version.

In the HD remake, the vines that Tropicallo produces grow a bit quicker compared to the previous installments. The creature itself will be show emerging from its shell by first peeking through its tuff of hair, then coming out of it completely to spit out its bombs. It will also look around a bit before burying itself instead of standing still. The animation for it throwing up is a bit slower than the SNES entry.

Another boss recolor can be encountered in the Frozen Forest, called Boreal Face.
