Niccolo's Business Unusual[edit]

Niccolo introduces himself to the protagonist in Domina, complaining about the Luon Highway crawling with bandits. He joins the main character should they reply negatively about his affirmation of the highway being dangerous, promising they'll make them rich if they beat up the bandits. Before heading out, he must make a stop to Mark's place to see Teapo. There, he tries to swindles the gullible anthropomorphic teapot into buying a old Wheel he found on the highway. Teapo can't pay the outrageous 50,000 lucre the merchant is asking and Niccolo lends the precious artifact to the protagonist in the meantime.

The two of them head out for Luon Highway, where they come across a duo of rowdy Chobin Hoods. The bandits ask them for money, but call out their master the Mantis Ant to trash the two adventurers in the process. After the fight, Niccolo sells the main character a Greenball Bug, a Tako Bug, an Iron Pot, and the Flame and Medallion artifacts for 300 lucre. If the player doesn't have enough money, he will give them for free. He then tells the protagonist to smile, as he wants to make his costumers happy.

Niccolo's Business Unusual: Part 2[edit]

The hero finds the greedy merchant inside Gato Grottoes's item shop, telling them he came here to gather greenball bugs to make snacks. The greenball bugs in Gato eat the droppings of the Cancun Bird and asks the protagonist to join him to collect the insects. They travel to the foot of a large waterfall where Niccolo greedily start scouting the place for bugs. A Faerie comes by, asking for what they're doing. Meanwhile, Niccolo asks the hero what they are staring at, as he doesn't see any Faerie. He then tells the protagonist he's done gathering greenball bugs and gives them one along with a Broken Doll and 500 lucre.

Niccolo's Business Unusual: Part 3[edit]

The leporine merchant can be found inside Lumina's gem shop, he heard a rumor about a psychokinetic Flowerling in Mindas Ruins and he wants to go there. He joins the hero, saying he just wants to prove psychokinesis isn't real. At the ruins, he finds a male Flowerling claiming teleportation powers are amazing. Niccolo starts chasing after the creature, but he uses his psychokinesis to run away. The peddler tells the hero he knew those creatures were faking their powers and wants to get out of here. After making they way back to the entrance, Niccolo claims that the Flowerling couldn't use psychokinesis and that's the reason he ran away.

Niccolo's Business Unusual: Part 4[edit]

Niccolo is seen wandering near the Outdoor Fruit Parlor in Geo and tells the main character he's got lots of goods to sell. He wants to visit Watts in the Ulkan Mines, stating the secret of sales is sincerity. The player and the rabbit merchant finds the dwarf busy with daily chores as he asks them to come back later. He leaves precious Laurent Silver in different places without Watts knowing and leave his workshop. Niccolo returns, claiming he's here to collect his payment of 30,000 lucre's worth of Silver he left earlier. The dwarf tells the swindling merchant he doesn't see any, but Niccolo replies he must have used it up without noticing. The blacksmith curses the peddler, but the rabbit rationalizes saying if he doesn't have the funds, he must work it off. Watts shouts he lost his wallet inside the mines. As Niccolo is about to take some of Watts's weapons, the blacksmith tells him he'll make a new wallet out of Gator Skin and pay an extra 10,000 for the material. Should the protagonist bring him a Gator Skin, Watts will make himself a new wallet and offers to pay a total of 40,000 lucre. However, the dwarf discovers his new wallet is empty, which prompts Niccolo to call him an idiot. Watts accuses the peddler and the protagonist of taking the money when they gave him the material. Fed up with his insane remarks, Niccolo helps himself by taking some of Watts's weapons and tells him he'll be back when he's low on materials.

Niccolo Calls It Quits?[edit]

Madame Kristie, the proprietor of the Palace of Arts in Geo, has fallen gravely ill. Sotherbee, her trusty assistant, has ordered a medicine from Niccolo, but he charged them 10,000,000,000 lucre for it. With no other choice but to pay for the panacea, they paid for it, but Madame's whole fortune is in jeopardy as a result. The devious peddler is seen washed up on Polpota Harbor's beach, claiming he doesn't remember anything aside from the protagonist's name. He woke up on the beach holding a yambalooriben leaf. He joins the hero and the party heads back to the Palace of Arts, triggering some of his memory back. He recalls gathering the ingredients to make the medicine for Madame Krissie, but cannot remember anything further. The lady's lackey realizes he has amnesia, which prompts the rabbit to dismiss any payment since he cannot stand seeing a poor lady suffer like this. According to Niccolo, three infused yambalooriben leaves should be enough to cure her ailment.

The merchant and the main character travel to the Cancun Bird's nest in the Gato Grottoes and retrieve the last two leaves. Back at the palace, they give the ingredients to Sotherbee, but Krissie warns her lackey of the rabbit's suspicious kindness. She thanks the peddler for all his trouble but kindly refuses the leaves, asking for his servant to fetch them instead. She asks Niccolo to disclose their location in the wild, but he claims not remembering. The amnesiac merchant tells her one last leaf will do the trick and leaves her luxurious home. Once gone, Krisie orders Sotherbee to follow them. However, the bipedal lapdog quickly reenters the room, saying he lost them.

As Niccolo is about to nab the last leaf from the Cancun Bird's nest, he falls all the way down the large waterfall. He is found on Polpota's beach again, holding tight on the medicine. He returns to the Palace of the Arts to give the three yambalooriben leaves to Krissie, asking for his 10 billion lucre. Madame shrieks out, claiming he tricked them, but the cunning peddler reminds them of the agreement. Seeing their funds are insufficient, he declares he has no other choice but to transfer the ownership of the estate to him. Sotherbee calls him a monster, but Niccolo replies he's got a master swordsman accompanying him so they should be careful about what they say. Krissie admits defeat, but Sotherbee is afraid of being unemployed. Niccolo needs a business manager and offers both of them a position, which they gladly accept.

The Blessed Elixir[edit]

While visiting the Gato Grottoes, the protagonist enters the Gato Caves where they learn from a Nun that the temple's prized elixir had been completely drunk by a strange rabbit. Without it most of the temple's rituals cannot be performed. According to another nun, they need water from an oasis to produce the famed elixir. The main character finds an inebriated Niccolo right outside the cave, who starts becoming belligerent. After giving him a good beating, the peddler runs away.

Spoiler ends here.

Echoes of Mana[edit]

“A merchant who has traveled city to city peddling wares for generations. His 'money-crazy' dealings have led to more than a few unsatified customers. Niccolo isn't very fond of sproutlings or flowerlings. As for faeries, he might dislike them as well—if he could see them, that is.”
