- “Dragoons who serve Akravator. They cast volleys of magic, constantly movei during the intervals in which your attacks connect, and if you see them make wind-up movements for magic, stop them immediately. If you stand right in frond of them, there's a chance you'll be hit by the highly powerful Needle attacks, so watch out.”
- —Legend Of Mana - Official Strategy Guide
Wind Callers are minor antagonists in Legend of Mana and recurring characters in the Mana series.
Background[edit]
Collectively serving Akravator as his dragoons, the Wind Callers pledge their lives towards the cause of defending him from harm. To this end, they have thus taken up residence in a village located at the base of Norn Peaks, keeping vigil over any intruders who might disturb their way of life. While the Wind Callers are known to be benign toward those who revere their traditions, the Wind Callers will not hesitate to reject all dissenters.
History[edit]

- “The clan that serves Akravator as his dragoons. They are open-hearted to those who respect their traditions, but reject all others.”

The Guardian of Winds[edit]
Following Drakonis's wishes of eradicating each Dragons of Wisdom and stealing their respective Mana powers, his dragoon Larc ventures with the protagonist into the the different lands where each dragon are said to reside. The hero's first task is to slay Akravator, The Guardian of Winds, from the Norn Peaks. They tag with Larc waiting at the Macabre Tombstone and head to the mountains, where they are immediately ambushed by a beast warrior named Sierra. She confronts Larc by questioning his motives, claiming he's being used by Drakonis and leaves thereafter. The team presses on, and quickly come across the Wind Callers settlement at the foot of the mountain. The faithful dragoons of Akravator block to path to their leader, but Larc scares them away with his teleporting technique. The Beast Warrior and the protagonist defeat the Wind Callers one by one. They confront the blue dragon at the mountain peak as Larc declares he has come to rob him of his Mana. Akravator tries to reason with him just as Sierra did earlier, but Larc doesn't flinch. A difficult battle ensues, with the Guardian of Winds falling in the end. The two warriors walk toward the Mana Stone, then the dragoon gives the main character a Dragonbone as a reward while he absorbs the energy from the stone. A weakened Wind Caller crawls to his side, pleading for an answer to his foolish act, but the beast warrior remains still.
The Crimson Dragon[edit]
The Wind Callers are seen in the epilogue of the Dragoon Arc, where they are being visited by Sierra and the main character, possibly making amends.
Circle of Mana[edit]
Wind Callers make a cameo appearance in the online game, along with several other characters from the Mana series. They appear in 1 set of cards.

Personality[edit]
Aggressively loyal to the liege whom they have sworn a pact of fealty to, the Wind Callers will unhesitatingly sacrifice their lives for the sake of protecting him from coming under the threat of harm. This fact is made plainly evident in The Guardian of Winds, where the Wind Callers seek to protect Akravator through two distinct methods; one, through a seal that can only be broken by the decease of their leaders and two, deploying a squad of minions to swarm the Hero/Heroine and Larc in a desperate bid to halt their advance.
