Species Dragon

Dragon is a term referring to many bosses in the Mana series. The typical dragons fought as bosses look like the typical european depiction of the creature: a giant lizard with horns on its head, spikes on its back and large wings. Typical for high-fantasy settings, the dragons of the Mana universe are often tied to an element, reflecting their color palette.

In the first two installments, dragons were fought late in the game, typically in the Sanctuary of Mana. They would be able to breath flames of their elemental affinity and cast magic as well. In Final Fantasy Adventure, they would move on the ground while they would gain flight in Secret of Mana, occasionally leaving the arena to avoid damage. Echoes of Mana dragons would use the Dragon Dive physical move to damage their opponent in addition to their elemental breath attack.

The Dragon was the first guardian of the Temple of Mana and blocked the way to the Temple of Mana Atrium. The Red Dragon came second and prevented Sumo from reaching the Temple of Mana Corridor. Finally, the Zombie Dragon was the last roadblock before reaching the Mana Shrine, the innermost section of the last dungeon.

An interesting note to point out is the Zombie Dragon being a palette-swap of the Hydra, sharing its moveset and movements as well.
