Captain Shiloh's Swashbucklers! was an even in Echoes of Mana.

Synopsis

(Note: this event is set before the apparent destruction of the world in Chapter 8 and is thus considered a story in Season 1.)

While our heroes are still on the hunt for the missing Mana Sword, Baashear has once again found an odd fruit growing on the Mana Tree. The two heroes are in discussions as to where it might lead and whether there is a place they would like to be. Mention of the sea is made, but Baashear will not so much as entertain the idea, for he is hydrophobic.

The twins enter the resulting Echo and find Shiloh hard at work, fishing in order to catch some food for penguins. Thus far, he has not landed a single bite, but nonetheless invites the twins to try their hand at it. The twins haul in a large crab, which impresses the young adventurer. But soon after, Shiloh recasts his line and snags an odd find: a mysterious bottle found to contain half of what appears to be a treasure map.

As if on cue, the SS Buccaneer comes ashore with Amanda, Riesz, Raxa, and a troupe of Pirate Penguins on board; and it would seem they have half of a map as well, so they force their hand to get Shiloh's piece and complete the map.

As it happens, the Penguins are in need of an able cap'n after Cap'n Tusk decided he needed a holiday from his bird-brained swabbies, As none of the women want the post, Shiloh volunteers himself and his map in hopes of locating any treasure and thereby crushing his boredom. The Pirate Penguins heartily accept, and proceed to dress all in pirates' clothing.

Their search for booty eventually leads them to another ship—but soon, all fades to black as they are taken aboard a Ghost Ship in the spot where the map has been marked. Though all encounter terrifying phenomena, a penguin named David makes a report to Shiloh and the party continues its search. In the main cabin, Shiloh is able to locate the captains log, which has but one word written in it over and over again: "death". Moments later, they are confronted by a flaming Gova, which they then fight and defeat. Suddenly, the ship rumbles, and the party has no choice but to make its escape.

Now safely back on the deck of the Buccaneer, the new crew is able to reflect on their adventure. Will Cap'n Tusk return?
