Orb

From the Wiki of Mana, the Mana encyclopedia

Orbs, also called Weapon Orbs or Energy Orbs, are mysterious objects said to draw their powers from the Mana Seeds. They are usually obtained by defeating a boss though some are found in chests.

History[edit]

During his search for the next Mana Seed in Gaia's Navel, Randi stumbles on a dwarven blacksmith named Watts who offer to forge the hero's sword for 100 GP by using the orb he's received from slaying the Mantis Ant back in Potos Village. The blacksmith's hammer glows bright on contact with the legenday blade, giving the dwarf the incentive to follow the traveler to help him convert his weapons into stronger ones thanks to the orbs' power.

Function[edit]

Energy orbs can be used to strengthen the party's weapons by one level by giving them to Watts who will forge them for a fee. Each forging action also grants an additional charging attack to the weapon.

Trivia[edit]

  • According to the Secret of Mana: Reborn team, which is the first comprehensive script remaster of the original game text since its release in 1993, "[The original Japanese script] lacks the concept of orbs in the script as they were not a gameplay element in Seiken Densetsu 2; instead, “weapon power” increases."
