History[edit]

Trials of Mana[edit]

“Benevodons -- These beasts of destruction were sealed away in the Mana Stones. In the past, the Benevodons were responsible for bringing the world to the brink of chaos.”
Adventure Log

Heroes of Mana[edit]

“Monsters that would destroy the world someday, sealed in Mana Stones by the Mana Goddess in ancient times. Though it is not yet their time to awaken, they find the presence of Esina's mirrors disturbing, and decide to lend their powers so Roget and party might put and end to the threat.”

Visions of Mana[edit]

The Benevodons as they exist in Qi'Diel are described as the embodiments of nature's worst inclinations; according to Julei, even if downed, they are never truly destroyed.

Millennia ago, the octet woke following the countless wars that saw the depletion of mana and the subsequent creation of the fractured world. Daelophos was sent by the Mana Goddess to subdue them, which he did. But in time, Daelophos was corrupted by his own grief over his beloved Cerulia and used the colossi to exact revenge on the Goddess, and placed a curse upon the world. Khoda, the first of many soul guards, was able to subdue Daelophos and the Benevodons and once more seal all of them away, dividing Daelophos' vast powers among the creatures. Daelophos himself would be sealed with the Mana Sword, guarded by the sleeping Goddess as the Mana Tree. All would come to pass at the expense of Khoda's life, and begin a cycle whereupon every four years, an immense amount of mana would be required to maintain the seal. Eight alms would be required to travel to the Mana Tree and offer their souls.

However, the soul guard Eoren, desperate for a way to revive his lost lover, inadvertently releases the seal on all nine of the corrupt creatures. Daelophos in turn releases the seals on the eight colossi to restore his own powers.

The eight Benevodons then begin their rampage on the world anew:
