The Lord of Jewels is a major antagonist in Legend of Mana and recurring character in the Mana series.

Background

The Lord of Jewels is an enigmatic character able to create small black holes as everything he consumes become fused with his body. Acting as Sandra's master, he has decided to help her in her quest to save Florina from meeting a certain doom by swallowing the Jumi cores that the Jewel Hunter has stolen. According to legend, should he ingests a thousand cores, he should be able to produce a mythical elixir called the Teardrop Crystal, able to vivify the Clarius of the Jumi.

According to the official Ultimania guide, the Lord of Jewels is a Star, and that he uses the cores of the Jumi in order to evolve into his final form.

History

Legend of Mana

The protagonist meets the elusive fellow inside the Mekiv Caverns during the Cosmo quest, where they and Elazul visit once again to search for Pearl. He points them in the direction where she went to and offering his knowledge about the Jumis and the jewels. He reappears moments after Sandra has scratched Elazul's core, pleading her to stop her senseless violence, to no avail. He vanishes after the commotion, telling the hero not to let the Lapis Knight's stone die.

The Lord of Jewels reappears at the climax of the Teardrop Crystal quest, where he absorbs the last two cores at the bequest of Sandra and transforms into Lord of Jewels 999 and 1000 successively. He is ultimately defeated without providing real purpose as the protagonist gives up their life to restore all the Jumis to their original selves.
