Rabite Forest is a field in Trials of Mana.

Background

A vast forest in the south-central region bordered by high cliffs and dotted with grassy mandalas, the Rabite Forest is home to many species of flora and fauna, including varieties of rabites from which the forest takes its name. It serves as a connecting point for various locations around the region: a path to the Jadd Stronghold winds to the northeast, with the village of Astoria beyond the southern pass and its namesake lake to the west. The Cascade Cavern lies due east from Astoria. The Koropokkur Woods are hidden in a mandala to the west.

History

Trials of Mana

Opening - Charlotte

Charlotte was catapulted from Holy City Wendel and lands on top of one hero. The hero immediately escorts her to Astoria's inn and pays for her lodging. Charlotte wakes up the next morning and sets off to find Heath. She locates him in a clearing, but instead bears witness to his abduction by Goremand before heading back to report to the Priest of Light.

Chapter I

The remaining five heroes escaped Jadd by night and now head for Cascade Cavern.

All six heroes, seeking the Priest's counsel, head for the cavern in an attempt to reach Wendel, but he sets up a magical barrier to protect the temple from harm. With no means of bypass, the heroes return to Astoria for help. Three witnesses report seeing a light floating over the nearby lake by night. As they take their rest, the light passes by their window to awaken them, whereupon they decide to follow it through the forest. It comes to rest on a plateau in the southwest. Within the light is a severely exhausted Faerie, also seeking the Priest. Faerie, left with no other choice, takes one of the heroes as host; but as she does, a thunderous sound can be heard from Astoria. Beastmen have attacked, and so our heroes rush back to survey the damage. With Wendel in imminent danger, they must venture into Cascade Cavern to warn the Priest.

Chapter II

Continuing the search for the elementals, the heroes are instructed by an elder of Laurent to return to the Forest after obtaining the Minor Mallet from an eccentric old woman in Beiser, for it is here they may find the great sage Donperi. He is a koropokkur, one of a diminutive race of humanoids living in the Koropokkur Woods. To find this forest commune, the heroes must open the entrance and shrink themselves.
