Trials of Mana, fully titled Seiken Densetsu 3: Trials of Mana and alternatively titled Trials of Mana 3D or Trials of Mana HD, is a 2020 remake of the 1995 game of the same name and the third game in the Mana series produced by Masaru Oyamada for Square Enix. Following on the surprise release and localization of the original title in 2017 and 2019, the 2020 edit is an enhanced remake that preserves and expands upon the story and lore of the original. Several gameplay mechanics have been completely overhauled or otherwise reworked for the transition to a 3D world, built from the ground up using Epic Games' Unreal Engine v4, adding full voice acting and detailed cutscenes to an already robust game. Developed by Square Enix with assistance from xeen, Inc., the game was first released for both PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in late April 2020, and then for iOS/iPadOS and Android in mid-July 2021.

When the world was shrounded in darkness, the Goddess of Mana drew forth the Sword of Mana to smite the eight Benevodons, monsters of destruction. She sealed the horrors inside the eight Mana Stones, bringing the realm back from the brink. Weak from rebuilding the world, the Goddess changed into a tree and fell asleep for years. However the forces of evil sought to free the Benevodons to gain control of the world. They started a terrible war to further their plot and destabilize the kingdoms. Peace was at an end. Mana bagan to disappear from the world, and the Mana Tree to wither...
Opening gambits[edit]
Duran[edit]
This gambit starts with Duran winning the Sword Mastery Tournament, youth division in Castle Valsena after defeating his sparring partner Bruiser. Duran is a soldier of Valsena and son of the late Golden Knight Loki who went missing after a successful attempt by the Hero King to eradicate the Dragon Lord. Overcome by grief, Duran's mother Simone died from her illness shortly after hearing the somber news. While on his nightly rounds at the castle, a mysterious individual sneaks into the fortress and starts attacking the other guards on watch, alerting a dozing Duran. The inflitrator reveals himself to be the Crimson Wizard and incapacitates the young soldier by casting a strong Fireball spell on him. The commotion is then picked up the day after during an emergency meeting with the king, stating that Altena was behind this wrongdoing and that Valsena must prepare a careful plan to prevent any further disturbance.
Meanwhile, disgraced by his defeat, Duran is seen moping at the local bar while his younger sister Wendy tries to cheer him up in vain. While wandering in town to change his mood, the young knight meets with a fortune-teller who informs him that in order to be stronger, he must seek the help of the Priest of Light as he might know how to change his class. This realization gives Duran incentive to leave his hometown and venture to Wendel where his Eminence is said to hail from. While packing his belongings early in the morning, his aunt and caretaker Stella stops him and gives him his late father's Bronze Sword. Before leaving the country, the young lad visits the king to discuss his travel to Wendel. After bidding farewell to both his aunt and Richard, Duran heads to the nearby port town of Maia while pledging to defeat the Crimson Wizard.
Angela[edit]
In the frozen wasteland of the north lies a magical knigdom named Altena where the climate is unusually warm. However, the power source provided by the True Queen begins to wane, allowing the cold air from the outside plain to encroach upon the kingdom bit by bit. An eminent magician starts rallying the troops in the throne room during a military meeting, saying that Altena should start invading neighboring kingdoms and start activating the Mana Stones. Doing so would open a portal to the Sanctuary of Mana where they could gain the immense power of the Mana Sword to rule over the world.
Meanwhile, the young princess and heir to the throne Angela is practicing casting magic with her old mentor José. After failing to cast magic once again, the magic-less princess storms off of her studies out of frustration and boredom. Angela has always been a troublemaker as a means of drawing attention from her mother, who only replied with scoldings. The fact that the heiress of Altena could not cast magic rapidly began to be the talk of the town. While wandering aimlessly around the castle, the young woman is hailed by her childhood friend Victor who informs her that she is being summoned to the throne room.
Here, Angela learns from her mother that in order to open a portal to the holy land, they must cast a powerful but forbidden magic that takes the life of its caster to successfully work. Angela was chosen by her mother for the sacrifice since she is useless without magic. Angela is shocked by her mother's sudden change of heart, only to have the Crimson Wizard egg the latter on.
The surge of emotion created by Angela's fears causes her to teleport outside the castle walls and venture into the Frostbite Fields, eventually collapsing from the cold. The young princess is then rescued by a mother and her child and then brought back to their home in Alrant, a coastal village. There, Angela learns from a fortune-teller that she might get help from the Priest of Light in Wendel and decides to take the ferry to Jadd Stronghold.
Kevin[edit]
Deep within Duskmoon Forest lies Ferola home of the Beastmen who were forced to seclude themselves after being persecuted by humans. The King of this nation vowed to wait for an opportuning to strike back and this came under the guise of Goremand, a mysterious demon visiting the throne room one night. Incredulous at first, Gauser gives the traveller one chance to prove himself. Meanwhile in Duskmoon Forest, Kevin is lying down alongside his wolf pup friend Karl. Both of then share smiliarities in their upbringings, being orphans and by the fact they do not comply easily to their spartiate way they were raised to be. Upon both returning to the castle, Karl start acting strangely and immediately attacks Kevin, who is then unwillingly forced to defend himself. This fight leads to Kevin being manipulated to transform into his werewolf form, accidently killing the pup in the process.
The mourning boy then buries his lifelong friend in their special spot shortly before entering Ferolia. There Kevin learns while spying on a meeting that head of the beastman army and rival Ludgar is announcing the imminent invasion of Wendel by conquering the neighboring town Jadd Stronghold first. Upon further investigation, the young man, overhears Gauser congratulating Goremand over his manipulation tactic between Kevin and Karl. This enrages the boy and he immediately confronts the two to get his revenge, but is easily curbstomped by the king himself, sending him flying outside the fortress. After recovering from his fall and wandering in the forest, Kevin finds Goremand lurking around, announcing to the grieving lad that the Priest of Light in Wendel could revive his furry friend. The cunning demon adds that he should hurry before ferolian troops reach the holy city and opwns a new path for Kevin to take with his scythe. The boy reluctantly accepts and proceed to swim all the way to Jadd.
Charlotte[edit]
A dream sequence shows the young lady Charlotte playing in a field while being observed by her late father and mother. Upon noticing them, the little girl sprints happily in their direction but soon discovers that they are meerly an illusion. Charlotte wakes up in her home, the Temple of Light in Wendel and decides to explore the place. While Charlotte secretly spying behing a pillar, foreboding tears leaking from the main Mana Statue in the audience room catch the Priest of Light's attention.
He summons his protégé cleric Heath to share his concerns. His Eminence then asks the young priest to investigate a mysterious orb of light that appeared in the nearby town of Astoria. This order worries the young girl and tries to escape the temple to protect Heath but she is quickly stopped by the guards. She then asks her friend Mik to find a way to get her outside the palace. The young boy eventually caves in and tell Charlotte to meet her in the evening. After taking a nap, Charlotte meets Mik on the balcony who whips out a Spingstepper, a device that sends the user high in the air upon being stepped on.
Eager to try it, the young girl jumps onto the contraption but is sent flying randomly in the nearby forest. Charlotte is then rescued by a traveler that brings her to Astoria inn. Aften waking up, she decides to search for Heath in Rabite Forest. She discovers the cleric surrounded by beastmen who easily takes care of them by casting Holy Bolt. The victory is short-lived, however, as a mysterious demon attacks the poor lad with a powerful dark spell, leaving Heath unconscious.
While desperately trying to defend her friend, Charlotte is violently tossed aside by the fiend who teleport himself and the priest away. Frighted, Charlotte is forced to head back to Astoria after hearing a loud noise nearby.
Hawkeye[edit]
In the dead of night, renowned thief Hawkeye is part of a robbery expedition alongside his nevarlan comrades in Sirhtan. While sneaking into an infamous local greedy merchant's house, the young lad succesfully pried open a treasure chest before dashing out the place, leaving the disgruntled owner penniless. Returning from his plundering Hawkeye stops at the throne room in the Nevarl Fortress and learns by chief advisor Isabella that the thieves guild is no more, leaving a new kingdom in its place and Flamekhan as its rightful ruler. The kingdom of Laurent is said to be their first target for invasion as this will make up for their wells drying up because of the shift in mana power.
Lather that night, Hawkeye is visited by his friend and king's daughter Jessica, puzzled by his troubled mood. Hawkeye shares his concerns for Flamekhan's motive to become king and invade other nations, not without mentioning Isabella's sketchy behavior. The conversation quickly turns sour after the young lad suggests that Jessica is thrilled to become a princess, earning himself a slap. A while later, Hawkeye meets with Jessica's brother and heir to the throne Eagle to discuss about Isabella possibly manipulating Flamekhan. They both decide to spy on the throne room only to discover the chief advisor speaking with a grim-looking demon while their ruler is speaking. The duo interrupt the secret meeting but Isabella promptly orders the demon to leave while casting a curse on Eagle, forcing him to fight Hawkeye.
This ultimately leads to the heir's demise and Hawkeye being falsely accused of murder, in the end being escorted to prison. Isabelle then tells Hawkeye that she has out a Choker of Death around Jessica's neck so he cannot tell him the truth while she visits him in jail, leading her to believe the lies that he murdered her brother. Fortunately, another friend of the young thief, Niccolo, helps him break away from this cell and tells him that the Priest of Light might know how to break of curse of this evil artifact. Hawkeye decides to head to Wendel to find out how to save his friend's life.
Riesz[edit]
High atop the highest mountains lies the wind kingdom of Laurent who is said to be impenetrabke thanks to the strong winds surrounding the citadel. Riesz, princess of Laurent and captain of the guards is conducting her daily training nearby while she notices the monster population increasing lately. After returning to the citadel, the searches for her younger brother Elliot for his personal training. After inquiring to his father King Joster he tells her that he senses him being nearby. The young princess then asks Alma if she has seen him. The old women reminisces on how the poor your prince never knew her mother since she died during child-birth. This incident gave Riesz incensive to show much love and protection toward her sibling.
Meanwhile, the young prince is greeted by two mysterious travellers claiming to perform in the mountains. After venturing deep within the castle, the duo then trick the young prince to deactivate the crystal controlling the strong gale around the fortress, telling her mother would descend from heaven had the winds be quelled. Unfortunately, Riesz is too late to undo the damage done while she finally finds her brother alongside the con men. The latter duo gloats that the nevarlan forces have already penetrated the citadel walls and intent to raid the premises. The evil twins then capture Elliot while the Amazon princess desperately tries to defend her kingdom and force her way to the throne room.
There, she finds the mortally wounded father lying on the ground, telling her that her brother is no longer within the fortress and that she must get him back. Leaving her homeland in shambles, a grieving Riesz recalls her later father saying that the Priest of Light has answers for those in need. She then decides take a ferry to Jadd, a neighboring town to Wendel.
Chapter I[edit]
After departing from their homeland in hopes of seeking and audience with the Priest of Light, the main protagonist reaches Jadd Stronghold where they discover the town amidst a siege from the Beastmen. With no way to get out of town as the premises are crawling with ferolian forces, our main character decides to ask the townsfolk for a way to sneak out. Word around says that beastmen expose their weakness at night, so the protagonist decides to stay at the local inn to pass the time until dusk. Upon waking up, they discover that citizens of ferolia turn into werewolf and lose their inhibitions, making a surefire way to exit the town without being spotted. While wandering in the nearby Rabite Forest, our hero discovers a suspicious entrance by a waterfall. As they try to enter, they discover it to be blocked by a mysterious entrance. Unable to circumvent the obstacle, our hero resigns and head to the nearby settlement in Astoria. Here they meet a villager claiming that they say a mysterious light floating around the lake at night. This prompts the main character to stay at the inn and wait for the next nightfall. By doing so, they are rudely woken up by a stark light coming from outside, which tells them it is time to investigate. They chase the light all the way to a secluded clearin, where it is revealed to be a small magical being named Faerie. The little sprite thanks the adventurer for rescuing her, and declares it to be the Chosen. Their meetup is quickly interrupted by a large noise coming from the village. Returning to Astoria, the duo discovers that ferolian troops decimated the premises and that Wendel might be next. Fortunately, Faerie knows how to open the barrier to the waterfall entrance and the two of them hurry back to their next location. Here they find another adventurer who happens also seek and audience with his Eminence. The traveler tags along and the newly formed party venture into Cascade Cavern, eventually reaching the Holy City. Here they find the Priest of Light who tells them about the lore of world's creation and the eight Benevodon sealed within the Mana Stones. The party is now tasked to prevent evil forces to break the seals containing those fearsome monsters and that the Chosen should wield the Mana Sword to awaken the Mana Goddess and bring peace to this land once again. The Priest adds that the party should seek the aid of Elemental Spirits living near their respective Mana Stone. As the nearest stone is located within Cascade Cavern, they venture once again in the damp cave, eventually reaching its deepest part where a mighty monster guards the elemental of light, Lumina. After vanquishing the beast and gaining the light spirit's power, they are cornered by Ludgar and his fellow beastmen soldiers who thank Faerie from breaking the seal for us, enabling them an easier raid on Wendel. The party is then thrown in jail in Jadd, where they meet their final companion. As the complete party escapes the town by ferry, they cross the ocean and dock at Maia, where they meet a bumbling inventor named Von Boyage, who tells them to come back later if they want to see his next invention. The party then continues their journey by crossing the Golden Road leading up to Splitstone Gap. Here they encounter altenish soldiers who attack the party by sending magical golems, effectively cornering the adventurers on a bridge. The structure immediately collapses after defeating the machines, blocking the only route to Valsena by foot. The party has no choice but to return to Maia. Fortunately, Von Boyage has finished his cannon travel system, but needs Nitromyte in order to use it. The group head back to Stonesplit Gap where they discover a secret entrance to Dwarf Village. Here they learn that Watts sells the explosives but has left for the Dwarf Tunnels. Eventually, the group obtains the nitromyte alongside gaining the elemental spirit of earth Gnome and is able to get blown off all the way to Molebear Moors right next to Valsena. By entering the kingdom, the party realizes that they are amidst an invasion by the altenish army. Fortunately, they arrive just in time to save Hero King Richard from the Crimson Wizard. After thanking Him, the king advises the party to take a ferry from Beiser to Palo to reach the Windstone location.
Chapter II[edit]
Having befriended both Lumina and Gnome, the party is now tasked to search of the elemental of Wind in Heavensway. They first dock at Palo Port where the nevarlan army as taken control of. While ascending the mountain path, they stumble upon a Somnosa field, leaving them to collapse on the ground by inhaling the pollen. They wake up inside Laurent Secret Base where the laurentian army has taken refuge after their kingdom fell to the enemy. Here they meet with an adviser who tells the party that in order to reconquer the citadel, they ought to ask for Donperi the famous Koropokkur tactician. Problem is, members of his kind despise humans and as secluded deep within Rabite Forest. The party must return to Beiser so to acquire the Minor Mallet from an old lady in the Night Market. The heroes must subsequently return to Rabite Forest and use the mallet to shrink themselves down to enter Koropokkur Woods. Here they meet with the aforementioned Donperi who shares his knowledge of the using the somnosa pollen to their advantage by using Sylphid's magic. Hearing those wise words, the party head to Gusthall where the wind spirit resides. Deep withing the mountain cave, they both find the Mana stone of Wind and a distressed Sylhpid being tormented by Darkshine Knight. The dark magic absorbed into the spirit's body eventually transforms it into a giant harpy, immediately attacking the party. The heroes eventually defeat the monster and free Sylphid from its curse who happily joins the party. Now with the wind elemental on hand, the adventurers head back to the somnosa field to let Sylhid magic spray the pollen around the citadel, making most of the enemy forces unconscious. All the laurentian troops are gathered to take back their homeland and the party is headed to the main spire, where the nevarlan commander Belladonna lies. The heroes are unable to stop her, unfortunately, but the overall pushback is enough for the enemy force to retreat. After being thanked by the people of Laurent, the party head back to Palo to take a ferry to Valsena. The trip ends up taking up much longer than expected, since it is later revealed that the heroes have boarded the Ghost Ship. Here they must solve book puzzles to get access to the main deck and fight with an evil entity to finally free Shade, the elemental spirit of darkness from its capture. Having defeated the source of the ship's power, the vessels crashes near the shores of Beuca Island, whose volcano is about to erupt. The adventurers succesfully escape the premises with the aid of Vuscav, a giant sea turtle who help them getting back to King Richard. His majesty congratulates the party for getting half the elementals and divulge the four locations of the remaining spirits.
Chapter III[edit]
Having being given the last four mana spirits locations, the party first head to the frozen wastelands of the north. Here they meet Darkshine Knight declaring that the Mana Sword will fall into the Dragon Lord's hands. Then, he unleashes three improved machine golems to stall the heroes for a while. After defeating the threat, the trio enters the Labyrinth of Ice and meet with Undine, the elemental of water, gaining her power in the process. Unfortunately, the Waterstone was already activated by the enemy, meaning that they must make haste to the next Mana Stone before their many opponents. Their next direction points toward the Burning Sands where the Firestone is said to lie. The adventurers are halted just before entering the Fiery Gorge by Belladonna and her henchmen Bil & Ben, who are tasked to hinder the heroes while the commander activates the Mana Stone while dragging a helpless Jessica alongside her. The Firestone is utlimately activated by Belladonna by using the twin ninjas' souls to break its seal as a revenge for slaying them and rescuing Jessica. An enraged Salamando, the fire elemental appears and decides to join the heros in their quest. Having acquired both water and fire spirit allows the party to venture into Duskmoon Forest, where they find Goremand before the Chartmoon Tower feasting on the remains of altenish soldiers after successfully preventing a raid from Altena on Ferolia. Kevin storms the scene irate at the evil jester for lying to him about the Priest of Light being able to revive Karl. The commotion attracts beastman commander Ludgar to enter the premises and confront the party he wishes to see dead. Fortunately, the mighty werewolf is no match to the Chosen, and is transformed into a toddler by the Moon elemental Luna and she reunites with the party just like all the other Mana spirits. The last Mana Stone is said to be found deep within Lampbloom Woods, so our heroes head into the lush forest with the aid of Luna who creates a path previously blocked by foreign vegetation. There they meet with Charlotte, who travelled here to find out more about her origins since she is said to be born within those woods. Further down the road, they meet with the Elfin Elder in an unwelcoming village called Flowerburg Dior inhabited by elves. Here Charlotte discovers that she is the offspring of a priest from Wendel and an elf woman who are now buried near the village's entrance. The party also learns the wereabouts of the Woodstone being unaccessible by foot, being located in the Woods of Wandara. Nevertheless, they find the last elemental, Dryad after vanquishing a large plant monster. Having all seven mana spirits in their possession, they now hurry to the focal point of the world, Oblivisle to open the path to the Sanctuary of Mana.

In an age long past, the Mana Goddess battled a malevolent sorceress named Anise the Witch with the aid of ancient heroes under the tutelage of a great sage named Grand Croix. The witch was eventually weakened and sealed in the space between dimensions, and the skills used by those heroes were preserved in six sphere relics for centuries. Grand Croix's soul was also preserved during this time; the tome in which he was sealed came to rest in the great library of Valsena. With the Tree and therefore the Mana Goddess killed by the actions of the three antagonists, Anise's dimensional seal was gravely weakened. She now bides her time waiting for an opportunity to seize control of both the mortal plane and the netherworld of Mavolia, plunging both into chaos. This disturbance rouses Grand Croix, who must now break the seals over the six spheres and their powers. He then calls the three chosen heroes to claim their ultimate powers as Class 4. To do so, each must pass a trial specifically crafted for them. But when Anise receives word that the trio has passed their trials, she beckons them to visit a new dimension created from her twisted memories of the world she wishes to conquer. Can the heroes quash her nefarious scheme?
Gameplay[edit]
The player controls one of three characters chosen at the beggining of the game and can switch between them once they meet them during the story. The game is divided into six chapters that encompasses the entire orginal story of the 1995 Super Famicom game, with an additional post-game seventh chapter detailing the awakening of Anise the witch.
Battles are conducted in real time compared to the traditional turn-based system used in the Final Fantasy series. Enemy attack range are depicted by red markers on the ground, making evading them easier. Enemy attacks have a red backdrop while party member actions have a green one.
Trials of Mana remake brings out Abilities which can be equipped by party members to enhance stats or granting various bonuses during battle. Most abilities are tied to specific character classes, but some of them can be obtained through talking to NPCs or completing various story-related tasks.

Menu[edit]
The main menu is divided into five sections: the main page, items, gear stats, training strategy and adventure log. A map of the currently visited area can be accessed on a separate menu. The main page depicts the current playable characters (up to three), their name, level, next level gauge and current amount of unused Training Points. The game clock can be viewed on the upper left corner of the same page as well as the current amount of Lucre on the upper right corner.
Items[edit]
The item section of the main menu can be accessed by selecting the leftmost icon on the main menu. Here players can view and organize every items acquired during the course of the game. The right side of the screen shows the items assigned to the ring menu while the left side is further divided into six tabs: Items on Hand, Magic Items, Projectiles, Class Items, Key Items and Seeds. Items written in blue letters are assigned to the item ring menu.
- In the Items on Hand tab are the items that doesn't fit in the other sections, such as recovery items (Candy, Cup of Wishes), utility items (Dream Reed, Magic Rope), stat-boosting items (cookies, incences, serums and elixirs).
- The Magic Items section depicts all the items emulating a magic spell, such as elemental coins, elemental icons, enemy fangs, enemy scales, enemy eyes and enemy oils.
- The Projectiles tab displays the four throwing items of the game (Bumpkin, Dart, Hand Axe, and Shuriken).
- The Class Items holds all the special items obtained from planting ??? Seeds to gain access to 3rd-tier classes, and later Class 4. (tags for Duran, books for Angela, auras for Kevin, dice for Hawkeye, and necklaces for Riesz).
- The Key Items section has all the story-related items that cannot be depleted like consumable items.
- The Seeds tab contains all the seed varieties that can be planted in a Magic Pot or sometime used on party members.
Gear Stats[edit]
The Gear Stats menu section has two main pages. On the first, players can view their selected character gear, moves and change costume on the left and view their character stats on the right. The left sub-menu table is further divded into three tabs.
- The Gear section is separated into two sub-sections;
- Under Equipable Items, the table shows the currently equiped weapon, headgear, body armor, accessory, and shield (Duran's light classes only), all of which can be swapped with another gear by selecting either of them. The currently selected gear's stats can be viewed on the bottom left corner.
- Under Abilities, players can view and swap equiped abilities of a selected character. The amount of slots to equip abilities depend on the character class level: tier 1 has two slots, tier 2 has four, tier 3 has six, and tier 4 has eight. Locked slots will be diplayed as Locked to class.
- The Moves section displays Locked Abilities, Class Strikes and Moves tied to a seclected character.
- Locked abilities are gained by each class upgrade, making the maximum amount available to one character being three. The currently selected locked ability, class strike or move's name and description can be viewed on the bottom left corner.
- The Class Strikes sub-section displays the special moves tied to each class tier of each character. The maximum amount of class strikes is 4.
- The Moves sub-section shows the selected character's learned magical spells and techniques.
- The Costume section allows players to swap between each discovered class costume regardless of the current selected class.
The second page shows the current stats for all characters in the party. Information displayed contains name, level, next level gauge, Training Points, class level, class name, HP, MP, Attack power, defense, magic attack, magic defense, strength, stamina, intellect, spirit and luck.
Training[edit]
The Training section allows players to swap Training Points (TP) gained by leveling up with abilities, moves or stat increase. Each number and kind of available bonuses is tied with the current character class. Players can spend their TP in five different stats, each containing unique bonuses: Strength (STR), Stamina (STA), Intellect (INT), Spirit (SPRT), and Luck (LUCK). Once the player has confirmed to allocate points on one stat, the points cannot be removed of distributed otherwise, unless by paying a visit to the Phony Fortune-Teller at the Night Market or by resetting its class with Goddess Scales. A descriptive of a selected bonus can be read in the lower right corner.
Strategy[edit]
The Strategy section allows players to customize character AI during combat at any time. The page is divided into three sub-sections: Target, Tactics, and Customization.
- In the Target portion, players can choose which enemy the character AI will chose to prioritize in battle. The options are: Nearby Enemies, Range Enemies, Same Enemy, Other Enemies, and Weakened Enemies.
- Nearby Enemies will direct the AI to strike the enemy that is the closest to the corresponding character first.
- Range Enemies will order the AI to attack the enemy that is the furthest away to the corresponding character first.
- Same Enemy will allow the AI to battle the same enemy as the player-controlled character.
- Other Enemies will signal the AI to only target enemies not attacked by allies.
- Weakened Enemies will direct the AI to only battle enemies with low HP.
- In the Tactic portion, players can chose whether the character AI will take an offensive or defensive strategy in battle. They are four options: All-Out Attack, Balanced Attack, Protection Is Paramount, and Exclusively Protect.
- All-Out Attack will only allow the character AI to be on the offensive and never assist or heal self or allies.
- Balanced Attack will try to alernate the character AI between attacking and assisting allies.
- Protection Is Paramount will mainly focus the AI to heal and assisting allies.
- Exclusively Protect will only permit the AI to heal and assist allies.
- In the Customization portion, players can move three sliders to select how frequently an AI will use Moves, Class Strikes and healing items on its own. The further right the cursor is, the most the action will be executed and the further left will be its opposite. All three sliders have five tiers.
- The Moves cursor will have the following tiers starting from left to right:
- Do not use moves.
- Use moves without MP falling below 75%.
- Use moves without MP falling below 50%.
- Use moves without MP falling below 25%.
- Use moves whenever possible without conserving MP.
- The Class Strikes cursor will have the following tiers starting from left to right:
- Do not use class strikes.
- Use class strikes without falling below 25% of CS gauge.
- Use class strikes without falling below 50% of CS gauge.
- Use class strikes without falling below 75% of CS gauge.
- Use class strikes whenever possible without conserving CS gauge.
- The Healing items cursor will have the following tiers starting from left to right:
- Do not use items.
- Leave at least 5 of each item in stock.
- Leave at least 3 of each item in stock.
- Leave at least 1 of each item in stock.
- Use items regardless of stock.

Adventure Log[edit]
The Adventure Log section hosts both short story segments that unfolds as the adventure progresses and a tips sub-section containing entries on the various concepts and gameplay elements of the game. Some entries of the tips section can also be read during loading screens.
Interactable Objects & Services[edit]
Mana Statues[edit]
During their adventure, players will come across statues depicting the Mana goddess they can interact with. These monoliths come in two types: silver mana stones will allow players to save their games while golden Mana statues will both restore characters HP and MP and will save their game. There is also a single Mana statue deep within the Santuary of Mana that can grant characters a class-change.
Inns[edit]
Inns can be found in most towns, allowing characters to rest for a period of time and restore HP and MP. Players have the option to wake up their party during the day or the night, influencing the time of day and story events. Furthermore, if characters use the inn services during Mana Day, they won't have to pay for the stay. Inns also host the Magic Pot typically located near the front desk.
Magic Pot[edit]
Inside inn players can interact with the Magic Pot, a wonderful contraption that can grow seeds almost instantly. When players plant a seed inside the pot they are rewarded with a variety of items or equipment. The type of reward is the dependent on the seed type and the Magic Pot level. Each time a player use the Magic Pot, its level gauge fills up a bit. Once the gauge is completely full, the Magic Pot levels up, increasing the chance of yielding better items and for enemies to drop seeds more often. The maximum level the Magic Pot can reach is 5.
Shops[edit]
Shops are found in towns and are generally specialized in three types: items, weapons, and armor. Players can buy the next equipment upgrade or sell gear and items.
Phony Fortune-Teller[edit]
The Phony Fortune-Teller is found at the Night Market in Beiser and can reset a character's Training Points for a small fee. The cost of resetting a character's entire Training Points is equal to the total amount of TP gained.

Status Effects[edit]
Status effects are typically cause by an attack side effect and influence characters and enemies negatively. Some hazards like poison clouds and lava can cause status aliments. They can all be cured with a Medical Herb or the Twinkle Rain spell.

If a character falls asleep, they'll start to slumber in position until healed, leaving them open to enemy attacks. |

If a character is silenced, they'll be unable to use magic attacks until healed. |

If a character is petrified, their body will turn to stone and stop moving until healed. If all party members are defeated or petrified, it's game over for you. |
Burn |
If a character gets burned, it gets harder to see and the damage they receive from enemies increases. |
Freeze |
If a character is frozen, they'll be covered in a thick layer of snow and unable to move until healed. |
Moogle |
If a character gets moogled, they'll gain a cute moogle body until healed. Unfortunately, that means they can't attack or use magic. |
Shrink |
If a character gets shrunk, they'll become a miniature version of themselves until healed. Shrunken characters lose attack power and can't use class strikes. |

Battle Results[edit]
Once a battle ends, characters gain an amount of spoils from defeating enemies. Said spoils include: Lucre, Experience points (EXP), Items, and Bonuses.
- The amount of Lucre gained is determined by the total lucre each enemy gives out and can be increased by using incences and equipping the Rabite Adornment.
- The amount of EXP gained is determined by the total EXP each enemy gives out and can be increased by using cookies, equipping the Love of Mana chain ability, and equipping the Rabite Adornment.
- The kind and amount of items is determined by the type of enemies slain, equipping the Lucky Find or Lucky Find II abilities, and many more.
- Bonuses can be obtained by meeting certain requirements, such as defeating all enemies after a certain amount of time, or slaying all enemies without taking damage. Bonuses can range from 1% to 20% depending on the achievement and stat-boosting item used.
