Von Boyage

Von Boyage is a reclusive and eccentric inventor who lives in the port city of Maia. The townsfolk claim that they know little of the happenings in his house at the back of town, so they call him an alchemist. In truth, he is quite gifted, though he tends to let his thoughts and speech run wild to the point that he forgets small but important details, leaving others to fill in the blanks and to become annoyed with him. He is the creator of the cannon in his backyard. Despite his unquestionable genius, Von Boyage cannot reliably operate his own cannon.

With the bridge between the Golden Road and Valsena blown out by a skirmish with Altena, Boyage must first send the party on a quest to retrieve a powerful explosive, nitromyte, which is in plentiful supply among the dwarfs of Stonesplit Gap. Once they get it, Von Boyage will fire toward Valsena. However, his shot lands the party in Molebear Moors.

Von Soir

The only one of the four not to work a cannon, Von Soir is Boyage's sister, who is seen tending to their house.

Von Jour

Von Jour is Boyage's younger identical twin brother, who now lives in Valsena after installing a cannon given to him by his brother. He claims to be the better cannoneer of the pair, and operates the return route to Maia.

Mercie

Mercie is the twins' cousin and a master of disguise. She becomes embedded in the Laurent Secret Base, posing as an Amazon soldieress before she sneaks the party out of the bunker and to her cannon installation on Heavensway's south summit. In Chapter II, her temporary route blasts the party back to Beiser.
