The Flammie Drum, also known as Wind Drum, is a recurring key item in the Mana series. It makes its first appearance in Secret of Mana. The item has usually been depicted as a handheld double taiko drum, which is a type of Japanese toy with a flat surface on both sides whose sides are garnished with balls on strings. Shaking or turning the toy makes the balls hit the drum parts, resulting in a distinctive sound.

History

Secret of Mana

The Flammie Drum is a key item given by King Truffle after riding Flammie from the Imperial Palace back to Fung Castle.

Trials of Mana

Chapter IV

After opening the portal to the Sanctuary of Mana, the party find themselves unable to reach it as the three main enemy forces approach the much coveted Mana Sword. The heroes must head to the Celestial Peak near Citadel Laurent where they befriend Flammie a winged dragon who helps them cross the portal. There, they meet the Goddess of Mana who gives them the Flammie Drum to call the white dragon whenever they want.

Usage

The party can call Flammie by using the drum whenever they are on an open field, as the use of this key item is forbidden in dungeons. The Flammie Drum effectively replaces the Ferry Flute as it is much more convenient and less restrictive.
