Difficulty levels are a recurring element in newer installments of the Mana series. Also a feature of other games including remakes and remastered versions from Square Enix, the ability to adjust the difficulty level of the game allows the player a degree of control over their experience by adding challenge to or removing challenge from the game itself. Typically, this is done by adjusting the various attributes of both player characters and enemies, or by modifying enemies' attack patterns and attack frequency.
