Petrify, also known as Stone or Petrified, is a recurring status aliment in the Mana series.

Effect

Chiefly caused by gorgons and stoning birds, the Petrify status entombs the victim in a mass of solid rock. It can be cured with a Gold Needle or Medical Herb, summoning healing magic, or waiting out the time allotted.

Final Fantasy Adventure/Adventures of Mana

Ston status

Abbreviated Ston in the original, petrification causes Sumo to freeze in place, though he can still attack in the direction he is facing.

Secret of Mana

Called petrified status in Secret of Mana and petrify status in Secret of Mana HD, this aliment transforms the afflicted into a stone statue, making them unable to receive commands. Should all playable characters by petrified, the player gets a Game Over.

The aliment can be removed either by casting Remedy or using a Medical Herb.

Here is a list of enemies that can inflict petrify to characters.

Here are the accessories the player can wear to become immune to petrify.

There is only one spell that Primm can use to inflict petrify to enemies.

On party members, the Petrify status halves their current HP and prevents them from doing anything. Petrified characters cannot suffer any damage. On enemies, pretrified enemies are considered dead and vanish from the screen. Party members affected by petrify do not gain experience from battles, except for the last enemy slain since the aliment is automatically cured.

There are multiple ways to get rid of the Petrify status.

  1. Using a Medical Herb, Marmpoto Oil, Salt Bottle, or Stardust Herb
  2. Using the Minor Mallet
  3. Casting Twinkle Rain
  4. Another status effect is applied onto the target
  5. Being hit by Fetid Breath (glitch)
  6. The target's HP reach 0
  7. Ending a battle (automatically revive downed allies and remove status effects)
  8. Exiting the current area (if not trapped in)
  9. Waiting for the status to wear off
